    You could try disabling the antivirus maybe?
    Also, check the connections tab in internet explorer settings. Make sure the "Never dial a connection" option is not selected.

    Well, I have finally fixed it by entering new MTU and RWIN settings, I have no idea why I should suddenly need to do this but that is what Tiscali said and it worked. So if anyone else comes across this strange problem see
