virgin have connected the modem, to where and what? (usb, ethernet), laptop or wireless?, lack of nic in device manager points to
a, one not being fitted
b,one fitted (onboard) but not enabled in bios
c, fitted and enabled but driver not installed(check device manager for unknown devices..click here to achieve nothing!0 -
Wired or wireless?:idea:0

Ok - more info
- Windows XP
- Modem connected to PC via Ethernet cable
- Wired internet
Bought the PC 2 weeks ago - but it kept 'crashing' and leaving a blue screen - but the internet worked fine
Since PC was repaired by Dell, its working fine - but internet isnt working.
Hope thats good info0 -
Is there any sign of the network card in device manager? If I have helped in any way, and you feel like it - please press the thanks button:beer:0

Virgins modem is a simple 'plug in and play'
So it must be the drivers in device manager (Like Pauly says)
Are there any yellow exclamation marks in device manager?:idea:0 -
Click Start > Network Connections and click Show All Connections, do you see anything listed?0
