I work for an IT vendor, prices of finished boxes are rising due to unstable currencies, £ is weak against the euro, the dollar, the yenetc . Unfortunatly most people don't realise the slim margins for vendors and resellers and they have come to expect to get more it for their money year on year, a bit like thinking houses can only go up.
Most vendors will have stockpiled machines built with cheaper components but there is a cost to holding stock too so it's catch 22.
You can still bag a bargain if you know where to look.0 -
I was quoted for some new studio music gear including a quad core PC, but the prices keeping swinging all over due to currency issues.
The music store guys think UK built products are grwoing in popularity as a result.
Oh, and to those that say we don;t make anything any longer, UK built mixing desks and EQ still lead the world. Even the Germans release products with 'British style EQ' as a USP.0 -
I really like Dell machines and ordered a new laptop direct from them mid-November with an original delivery date 2 weeks later. It then got delayed until after Christmas, defeating the point totally, so I cancelled and bought elsewhere. Dell said they were very busy and had a backlog of orders (makes sense over Christmas) so I don't think they are short of custom.0

I drive a Honda although I'm sure that a Mercedes is excellent for much the same reasons.
Hondas are more reliable0 -
That would make sense. I also thought the same thing, at some point electronics parts will rise in price just from this factor.
I guess there is some delay due to hedges taken against such melodramatics but if the pound stays low it's going to start moving prices on lots of things but especially electronics, all those lovely consumer goods the uk doesnt really make
but in general prices will still fall as electronics advances just the uk will have to settle for a ipod 60gb while others get the ipod 120gb for the same price, tough luck.0
