Fine for Parking on single yellow line

Received a PCN for parking on a single yellow line. Code 01 Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours.
The council is Lancashire

What is the law if the single yellow is broken. There is a cover in between the lines(dont know exact word). Therefore it is not a continous line.

Also there is a skip in between the lines so you cannot see the entire line.

Does anyone think i have a case for appeal?

Any help much appreciated

    Hi manutd99

Could you upload and post your PCN so someone can take a look please? Info & guide on how to do that is here.

The yellow line should conform to this diagram (especially the T-bars at the ends which are sometimes missing) though I'm not entirely sure about the breaks. What do you mean by a 'skip' in between the lines, are they worn out or something, or is there an actual skip (for rubbish collection) on the road?

The other end of yellow. It ends in single and start with double.

These are the pics (hope not many on one post). As you can the skip is on the road in between the lines and also the lines are faded and the break is where the cover is.

    Any one with any comments?

    Invalid PCN.

It gives deadline dates for 14 and 28 days (not required) - and they are wrong - equate to 15 and 29 days - count for yourself.

lines - not bad enough IMO but bung it in anyway cos they won't admit their docs are wrong.

Ask any questions necessary and keep updated.

  • I would cut your losses and pay the £35 - a court will just think you are wasting their time trying to annul your parking ticket because there was a skip plonked on the line. Is it really worth your while spending hours to try and get off a £35 fine? If you don't win - which I don't think you will - you'll have to at least pay double.

I am not a lawyer or anything, but you asked for thoughts, and those are mine. Pay it before it starts costing you more - you know you're in the wrong.

oh i'm losing it with this crap now!

What penalty are the Council going to pay for being "in the wrong" then?

Money saving advice? Pay an illegally issued PCN.

    - and what Court are you on about?

I suspect the OP wanted advice and assistance from people who know what they are talking about and can help. Not just someone's opinions.

Heavens above. This is getting silly now.
