I agree, but for both my boyfriend and I, we were struck ill after two days, so bad that we had to fly home only. And we drunk a hell of a lot, and took all the precautions, i.e. brush teeth with bottled water, antibacterial handwash, stay out the sun etc etc. It's just pot luck if you get or not, but I love how the people there tried to tell us it was our body adjusting to the temperature, when we've been to both equally hot places and been fine!
I would say to not let you hold you back, it's just sometimes being over-cautious can have the opposite effect lol0 -
The Crowne Plaza was excellent four years ago. No beach, but terraces along the cliff face and pontoons into the reef. Great for snorkelling.0

Make sure you pack a few cans of Carling, some huge gold ring ear rings and a Kappa Tracksuit.

Why, do the Chavs all go to Sharm now?
Sadly yes.
I remember the good old years when they were confined to Skegness, they slowly expanded to Benidorm and then parts of the Canary Islands. After the bombings in Sharm the prices dropped massively and Chavs saw the opportunity to move their opperations to Northern Africa whereby they could suddenly afford to stay in a Marriott and buy a whole 200 cigs for only £8GBP.
Thomas Cook took note and helped them move further down the coast to Hurghada where they are currently working hard to make there achieve chav status.
The really sad thing though is everytime i go to Orlando with Virgin i notice my flight is looking more and more like a Thomas Cook one en route to Benidorm.
Safe bets for now continue to be Australia, Asia and the Americas (except for Cancun)0 -

I know of someone who went there and didn't realise they were in Africa.
Which I found odd.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
We usually stay in El Gouna which for now, is still quite classy. However, been looking at going back in March & the price had rocketed from last year. Thought about somewhere else in Egypt (did nile cruise & a week in Luxor in nov) & decided that if I could get a good price for a 5* in maybe Sharm I should be ok. The more reviews I read about the place, the less appealing it gets. Is there anywhere in or near Sharm that is "classy"? Also looked at Marsa Alam but seems very remote.0

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am following up a few leads. It looks like it's not everyone's cup of tea but the positives outweigh the negatives - I hope!0

We have been recommended the Crowne Plaza in Sharm. All we need to do now is find the best all inclusive deal. Any ideas where to look?
Thanks
