Im confused about the £2 savers club...Does it not make better financial sense to put all your efforts into paying off any debts that you may have? Rather than keeping an inconsequential store of £2 coins somewhere in your house? Sorry if ive missed the point, but if you have a huge credit card bill/overdraft then it seems stupid to be keeping £2 coins seperately and not using it to offset/pay off that debt (even if you're putting them in the bank for some miserly interest!!)

It's just an extra incentive for people to save and not spend. I think I speak for most people here when I say that we are still putting all energies into trying to sort out our debts, it is just an extra thing we are doing.

Nowadays, I would rather put a £2 coin I got given in change into my saving box and see it add up, then spend it like I used to.

    Every little helps!

Yes but if you fill your piggy up full, then the money you saved will be a huge amount and you will see your debts paid off quicker. It's much more rewarding to pay off a debt with say £500 in £2 coins then if you pay it off at £2 a time :D

Go and get yourself a tin that holds £500 in £2/£1 coins and see how quickly it fills up :T

Also once the tin is full, you may have enough to offer a full and final payment on a larger debt
  • Banking my first £20 that I've saved up today. Absolutely gutted last night when counting them up and realised my sig and the amount in the tin don't add up. Turned out that the OH had "borrowed £4" and "forgot" to tell me, so had a furious bust up with him over it, he can't see why I'm making such a fuss about it!! So i'm off to buy my own piggy bank today where he can't access my £2 coins and banking £20 so there isn't too much lying in my flat. :(
