Haven't seen sight of any £2 coins yet. Is this a bit of a Murphy's Law situation? I used to get two or three a day!

  • We started saving £2 coins last year. We bought one of those tins from the 'pound' shop that you have to open with a tin opener. When we opened it just before Chrimbo we had over £300 in it. We are doing it again this year but are adding 50p's and 20p's this time too. The tins are great - there's no point opening them until they are full and it's a nice surprise to find out how much is in when you open it - the little lad's eyes light up when he's counting the money. Mine do too!!!

True but they cost about £15 so bit of a shame to smash at end, and quite pricey if trying to save...

We looked at them for a wedding savings pot but decided it was a bit extortionate.

You can avoid smashing them by levering the cash out with a knife I suppose...

Hopefully this post will work, 1st attempt! :o

I have just read about the £2.00 savers club and have decided to do the same. Just checked the purse and I have x2. Never thought about saving £2 coins.

Since January, I have joined in with 3 others to save up for our holiday fund, the sensible person has agreed she will be the banker, currently putting £10 a week away, so approx £250.00 will be saved by the time our holiday in June, which we will be given back in Euros. The intention will be to keep it going after the holiday for xmas.

Will suggest saving £2 coins to the other!

:j £2 coin club = now in a sealed tin so I'm not sure
  • Does anyone else saying sorry no I haven't got anything smaller while trying not to pull out the hidden treasure of the £2 with the £10 note you are hoping to get another £2 coin with the change?
I'm actually developing a habit of opening my purse on a slant towards me so the cashier can't see any £2 coins glinting in there while I see if I've got enough change to pay without using the £2 coin before I resort to using a note!

What a load of self deluded rubbish.

In what way does this random putting money in a jar help anyone?
Have you not bought something you would have otherwise bought - NO!
Have you bought something for less money - NO!
Have you substituted a cheaper alternative - NO!

All you have done is moved a small amount of money from your pocket/purse into a jar, you'll just need to go to the bank sooner - d'oh! (They'll even give you an, admittedly paltry, amount of interest.)

What would you do if you got 5 of these instead of a £10 note in your change every time you used a £20 note?

If you want to SAVE money then
    - don't buy something
    - buy something you need cheaper
    - buy a cheaper option.

Or if you need to save £100 quickly then take a £20 note - pop it in a jar (hey presto £20 saved) - then get another £20 note ( you may need to go to the bank) and pop it in the jar - another £20 'saved'. Repeat until you come to your senses. £20 notes also much more convenient than piles of £2 coins

Please thank me if you agree, although if you've found this post after trawling through 140 pages of stupid self congratulatory garbage then you're probably one of these nutters who has joined in anyway.

I'm surprised this long and dreary post hasn't been deleted on the grounds of insanity.

Apologies if such sentiments have been expressed before but I couldn't cope with wading through any more of this drivel.

I actually came across your post after trawling through two pages of your [STRIKE]garbage[/STRIKE] posts, why do you feel the need to knock everything and everyone, maybe doing this under your AE says it all, no response needed!
