What is the point? Well what is the point in living? It cheers us up, there is enough misery in the world today, life is for living, why can't most people on here get pleasure from saving in this way? You can have fun collecting coins to go towards things you cannot normally afford otherwise. I betcha couldn't afford to find a bulk £500 from your wages etc for say a holiday...

Thats my point, if you can afford to save say £50 in £2 coins a month then why cant you just take that amount out when you wage comes through?

I personally can afford to take £500 out a month, and do save it for things like holidays, car insurance etc. I dont want to knock your saving method, but people seem to be championing it as a radical way of saving money when in fact, if you budget your finances properly as Martin shows in his shows, you should know almost exactly how much you have left over at the end of the month (or year) and can save accordingly.

That said, if this method works for those who normally find it very hard to save money then its a good thing. Its like the old saving stamps idea. Also if it goes a short way to turn round this 'loan now, pay later' culture then its a very good thing :D

I use this as a fun way of saving a little bit of spare cash after my budgetting and bill paying etc. I do know what I have left and I do save a small amount seperatley as well. This is just an add on to save a bit of, if you like petty cash, that I might normally just spend elsewhere. A bit like my small change jar. Over the course of a year or so that shrapnel sure adds up.

I am full of good intentions to save money but something always seems to come up and I end up dipping into it! I joined a Xmas savings club in my work to try and stop me getting my hands on it and managed to save £300 last year but now I fancy a new challenge and have decided to join the £2 savers club as well. This is not only to see how much extra I can save but to see whether I do actually have any willpower when I am in control of the savings!! Going public and sharing my shame (if I give in) may be the deterrent I need! I solemnly swear with you all as witnesses that I will be completely honest and update my signature regularly even if it is for the worse!

Wish me luck and feel free to tell me off if the amount saved drops!!
