Going there in a few days with friends, previously been there with my wife on 4 occasions. I personally would not stay on Ramblas, there may be the Barri Gotic a few metres away but tourist attractions are spread out. I have stayed in the H10 Itaca and about to stay in the Expo. These are not far from the main station at Sants. The Metro is fine from there and taxis eay to obtain because of station. Areas around the Ramblas in the main are set up for tourists and tend to be expensive, and that is before tourist rip offs. It is also responsible for a lot of the crime especially pickpocketing. Of an evening look north of ramblas, to Gracia or Eixample plenty of cafes bars and nightlife there with less chance of being ripped off or worse

I stayed at the Hotel Jazz too and thought it pretty good. It has a restaurant but we ate only breakfast there as there are so many other places to eat nearby. It's very close to Placa de Catalunya, just a couple of minutes walk.

I also stayed in one of the hotels in the Diagonal Mar area while at a conference. Nice modern hotels (Hilton & the like) but about 10-15 mins on the tram to get back to the centre. Wouldn't recommend that area for a holiday.

Try STA travel, they are honest and have all types of hotels etc.. I stayed in a hostel near Joanic.
"Barcelona" is the best place I have been to. (a) loads of mime artists in Las Ramblas (b) loads of beaches, I went to Stiges (lovely fresh sardines) (c) mountains (d)Parks (e) architecture (f) markets

Does anyone know if there are places with sessions going on...just my partner loves playing in random places and anywhere she can get up and play guitar she'd be happy with!
Loads of buskers and mime artists all along La Rambla so take a cap and earn some money.:D

Are you aware that Reus is not in Barcelona? It's about 70 odd miles away iirc.:o
