I didn't go to mine.
No regrets at all:D0 -
I didn't go to mine and occasionally have small regrets, I don't have a photo of me all dolled up etc but at the end of the day, I have my qualification and it's just a photo and then lining up to shake the hand of someone you've probably never even met.

I went to my Bachelors graduation but not my Masters. Not sure if it really matters TBH, really depends on 2 factors
1. Do you want the experience of the day and the pictures to go with it?
2. Are there any family members (who you care about) who are keen on going to a graduation day for their loved one?
If the answer to both is no then you shouldn't go but if any one of them is a yes then maybe you should consider it.
End of the day it's the qualification that really matters! All it is is a ceremony where you get presented with a fake certificate that says "well done"! Some people go as all their friends are there too.Minds are like parachutes - they only function when open.

I didn't go to mine because it was the qualification that mattered to me, not paying to wear a silly hat and shake some strangers hand;)0 -
I think that it's nice to go if you can - you don't need to pay for pictures etc but it's nice to have that feeling of there being some kind of event/celebration at the end of your degree. It kind of draws a line under it, IYSWIM.0

Practical point, you still have have register to graduate. But you will have have the option to not go to the ceromony. You don't technically have your degree until its confirmed on your graduation day. But you just don't need to be there.
As to going its a personal choice, yet most people say its a day for the parents. I had a good day at mine, but all my friends were around as were my family. If they werent around I probably wouldnt have bothered.0 -
I didn't bother going to mine twice.
First time because I have no parents and I was not having a fight with older members of my family over who could and couldn't go as you only get 2 tickets. (Lots of people I know have divorced parents and they also faced this issue as their parents don't get on.)
Second time I was working aboard and couldn't be bothered to make a trip back to the UK for that.
If I eventually finish an OU degree I will go. This is because I doing the degree more for pleasure than anything.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

The one mental image I keep hold of to stay focused on my journey to Uni and through it, is that image of wearing a silly hat and shaking that strangers hand :rotfl:
I shall definately attend mine, it will be the rubber stamp on my endeavours.0 -
I only went as I wanted the pretty photo with my boyfriend (he doesnt do photos but promised to have a professional one of us together), lol.
But Im glad I went as it meant a lot, although I was the only one on my course graduating (choice of an extra year which I didnt take as I was offered a job) which put a real bummer on it. Plus my boyfriend couldnt come to watch as was too illGreen and White Barmy Army!0 -

How much did it cost? I mean, gown, mortar board, photo's; any other associated costs?
