Gas maintenance Contact

Has anyone got a British Gas Contract????? If so, watch out for the terms and conditions. I moved home two years ago, and when I moved, I was going through the annual services i had had. Over the 11 years I had been in the home, each year they moved the annual service by a month or two. Over the 11 years I was there, that meant that in some calender years i had not recieved a service. I contact them and complained but nothing come of it.
When i moved 2 years ago, I carried on with British Gas as although it was wrong, i feel that you still need this sort of protection. I moved in November 2006 and had the service carried out on the 3rd Nov 06. The second Service was carried out in December 2007.
I recieved a letter from Britsh Gas in November 2008. It says thats for being a customer, my annual serivce contact is still in place and they will contact me shortly to arrange a service call.
I called them today. Jan 2009. I explained I had not heard nothing and yet again they are rolling the annual serive forward. I explained that it should be an annual service and by doing what they are doing is not only putting peoples lives at risk but they are racking in thousands on pounds on unkepted yearly servies. What the Britsh Gas man said on the other end of the phone was to read my contract. I should contact them if they have not contacted me??????? They do not have to perform an annual service as long as they carry out a service in the service contract year???? That means you could go without a service for 23 months.
If anyone knows how to get this to Martin to have a look, that would be great as I think this is a classic Britsh Gas Rip Off. i am now looking around to see if I can find a better Service Contract so if anyone knows one, get in touch. You need a service contract but just not with British Gas and check what you are getting.

    Hello plazydays

I'll move your thread to 'The (Consumer) Vent' board.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

    Regards

I'm about to take out one of these service contracts, but personally I would call them to make sure the service was fitted in yearly, rather than waiting for them to call me, and book my service well in advance.

    I think that's quite reasonable.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

They normally allow 3 months either side of the previous service to accomodate for urgent repair work. Think about it you call up with no heating or water and we say we cant come today we are servicing your neighbours perfectly working boiler!

To be honest terorist cutomers like you we could do without, goodluck finding a better contract:T

I suppose when people sign up with BG and pay to have an annual service, you can't blame them for expecting this to happen..... annually. This in turn could prevent the future breakdown causing an emergency call out.

They've done this for years, the service date always gets later in the year.

I'm sorry. Did you just call him a terrorist for daring to complain about a policy he's paying for and not getting satifactory service from?
    You need to get laid.:rotfl:

It's hit and miss - some do a proper job, some are gone in two minutes, some just knock the door and runaway
  • My original contract started in the October, over the last 5 years its now in February..My boiler broke down yesterday.. all they could offer was a call between 6pm and 6am to come and fix it... sod them, got someone else to do it.. I won't be renewing this year, there must be others who can provide a proper service.

So if I had my service when it was due I may not have been quite so cold yesterday... They have changed the terms and conditons in the last 12 months to say you have to contact them to book the service, but they are not telling anyone this so unless you read your t & c's each time you won't know what's changed.

Yep, that's what we do, call them at least two months before the year is up
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical
