New Channels on Freeview

My main TV retuned fine but the dvd/hard drive recoder which is linked to it won't pick up Dave, Sky 3 or a few other channels on the EPG. Funny thing is, the TV also has a separate dvd recorder attached to it - and thats retuned ALL the channels just fine. They are all off the same aerial . All the other equipment in other rooms is OK as well - its just that one recoder and its a pain cos I can't record certain channels on the hard drive cos I can't pick them up on the EPG.

Any helpful suggestions would be very welcome !

It sounds like its the ariel! Have you got a booster ariel? We have to use a booster to get all our channels

Yup- a one-for-all booster which was around £30 from Comet- its even more annoying as on rare occasions I can get E4, But then the bloke who lives above me moves his furniture (I can hear him move stuff) and then I lose it for good again!

I think need a new box, but am reluctant to get anything as I don't know how much of the problem is the set-top-box and how much of it is the building I live in and generally poor signal.
(I also get no mobile phone signal- and neither does anyone else- go outside and you see at least 5 people standing outside their homes on their phone- its almost laughable- until last year we had an Orange phone mast on our roofs- made no difference when it was there and when it was not!- concrete and steel building structure you see.)

I get the feeling I won't really miss it as I can't abide only fools personally. But from looking at the list of what is available on freeview it mostly seems to be a load of tat..:rolleyes: once you take out, the kids channels. the !!!!!!. the radio,channels like fiver , daveja vue and itv2 which just shows the same programmes as the other channels or spin offs.. dave which is just old bbc quiz shows and top Gear,and shopping or phonein quiz channels..

I wish you got things like Sci Fi, UK Food and sky one.. Seems I will only be using it for the normal 5 channels once our cable gets switched off as we have cancelled it.Film 4 is a good channel but then again I see so many films I have prob already seen them..

That £12.07 (free p & p) aerial proved to be a real bargain. Not a TV addict which is probably why I only found out about the freeview retune last Wednesday evening on the bbc website.
Well that aerial is hanging inside my window pointing in the direction of the Bilsdale transmitter and all the channels are now being received, film four included.
Happy ending cause its always nice to tune into a special programme. Hopefully the BBC might take the hint and put some ballet on this Xmas - last Xmas there was nowt !:o
