I am sure I've seen something before about the owners of a working men's club trying to buy the bit of land and an old St John's Ambulance hut at the back in Wales? Was this the same thing? If it was it was an old one, I must have seen it when I was off work with my leg in plaster earlier this year.
I felt a bit sorry for the working club men, the treasurer was a bit thick and the members all disagreed what the money should be spent on.
No. This was a different one
The one you're on about was Kevin on behalf of the Royal British Legion Club in Cefn Cribwr. Auction date 4 September 2007.
This one was the Treorchy Working Mens Social Club. Auction date also 4 September 2007.0 -
There was also recently a developer in Torbay who bought an old house, knocked it down and after a long wait for pp built an ugly block of flats. Last shots were of him on his yacht saying, despite EA advice, he wouldn't drop the price from £250k each but would wait for an upturn in the market. 'Seaways' flats by Oracle developments - can't find them on Rightmove.
That was also broadcast earlier this week... I thought he was doomed myself. He seemed a decent guy tbh... but what can you do, as people go "all-in" assuming previous boom-time conditions will always continue.
During his long struggle with planning permission lasting a few years, he also bought the house next door (probably rising land values had boosted his confidence).. so in the end he had two plots.. and put blocks of flats on both.
I did find one on Rightmove, as one block of flats was called Seaways like you said, and the other to the left of it was called Sandbanks.0 -
I've been watching the repeats on UK Style too
The TV listing I saw had more housey programmes on it than I had ever heard of before. Looked great. But no channel is so great I'd feel a desire to part with cash for it.0 -

It looks like the flats are being built for Newydd Housing Association.

That lady that had gone through the divorce on Friday's show was really annoying. "I phoned my parents and said if you really love me you will give me the money to buy this house." She was in her 40s for goodness sake. She insisted on having a huge house with enough space for her ponies. Yuck.
yes she was particularly annoying, how the hell they thought it apropriate to be pushing her sob story, when shes got parents she can say that to, and can also afford ponies for her kids is beyond me. how anyone could even think it apropriate to say that about scrounging the money of the rents is beyond me. i switched off after that.0 -

Yes... she annoyed me immediately with the big-sob-story about nearly being made "homeless" when she's obviously flush with cash to continue renting if necessary, and in no danger of real homelessness.
Then later how she's always been "lucky". Then parents stumping up money. Indicating she'd had a fine house and cushy "city-style" lifestyle before the divorce.0 -

Ahh found it inside that pdf.
So does that imply the Welsh new-kid developers from HUTH have possibly been bailed out by Newydd Housing Association?
I've looked at their official website but found more interesting info elsewhere.. if perhaps slightly dated.

They have quite a bit of money to work with.

They probably need it. It's an area where you can regularly find 2-3 bed terraced houses for sale at £35-45k and they still can't shift them.
It's a pocket of poor.0
