    Hi,

Is anyone out there still having grief from Axa Insurance?

If so i would love to talk and if i can to help you out in anyway please post.

I recently emailed AXA to complain about disregarding correspondence regarding a claim. Mandy replied, apologized and gave me 2 telephone numbers. 01890 247 365 and 01850 211 850. Both are discontinued numbers.! The claim is only 20 pounds. Mandy now informs me that there is no 0 in front of these numbers. I thought all UK numbers start with a 0.????
  • Hi, Last July 2014 I signed what was supposed to be a one year Expatriate medical insurance to be covered in Australia. I did so with a spanish broker who offered me a good deal with AXA.
The cost was 700 euros and they insisted (I have the proof on emails) that it covered me all over the world.
Last week I called AXA to claim a medical visit, and they said that the insurance under my name covers only in Spain, except for the first 60 days that covers also overseas.
They say that if I wanna change to an actual expatriate insurance I have to pay a lot more which I don't find fare coz I was quoted for the one I signed.
AXA blame the broker and the broker blame AXA and the thing is that I need to go to an specialist and I don't have insurance :(((
Do you have any advice on this? Any help is very appreciated. thanks!
  • I have to agree with a lot of what's been written re Axa medical. They have gone from once being one of the best medical insurance company's to without doubt one of the worst. Their claims desk is shambolic with poorly trained staff who seem to have no clue that usually they are dealing with sick frightened people who a paying a fortune for medical cover only to be treated as a problem. I would not recommend anyone purchasing health insurance from them. To make matters worse the hospitals sigh with frustration these days when confronted by people claiming under AXA policies
  • I have just returned from LA, I spent 3 days in hospital they are refusing to pay

Had to return from holiday due to my Dad being ill and subsequently died. If that wasn't bad enough, claiming for 'curtailment' was probably the worst experience i've ever gone through. The claims line is off-shore, there is a language difficulty in explaining your circumstances, total lack of empathy as it seems these underqualified operatives are just reading from a tick sheet. In the weeks since my Father's death AXA have had me running about after GP's forms and hospital admission records and basically putting every obstacle in my way so i'll give up. Organising funerals and my Dad's estate was a doddle compared to dealing with this lot. Their claim form asks the GP for Dad's previous medical history, i questioned this with AXA and was eventually told this wasn't neccessary, only to be asked again for it by e-mail now the claim has gone in. Shame on you AXA, next stop will be the Ombudsman....

Unless previously declared and agreed insurance will not cover pre existing conditions so they want medical history to establish of the cause of death was due to or connected to anything pre existing.

You need to go through the company's complaint procedure before you can go to the ombudsman.
