Thanks Goldfinger. Exactly what I needed to know. I already have the forms so fingers crossed it'll be plain sailing from here.

You're welcome - Good luck with it.
  • Ring em up when you've received the forms (I did) They told me that as long as they had received the forms/money by the 23 February, they will honour the 4.2% that is mentioned on the application form. They were true to their word with me.

Cheers. I haven't had the form yet so hopefully it will arrive in the next couple of days and I can get everything sent off pronto.
    This is getting addictive! :D:eek:

I've successfully opened one with icesave dosh.

Just send original icesave isa reinstatement certificate.... application form.... transfer form..... and cheque ALL to BM. But be quick. I requested all the forms by ringing them up.

I took a photocopy of my icesave isa reinstatement cert. just incase.

Just to update (and confuse), I received an email reply from BM today to say that a transfer form for former Icesave ISA funds was not required.

Send it anyway (I did) IF it isn't required, they can just ignore it; but if it IS required, it can never be said that you didn't fill one out!

I do seem to remember that the FSCS website stated that a transfer form would have to be completed. It is probably more of a formality that anything else.

Just send it ALL back; and quickly!

    Goldfinger.

I sent the letters off to BM and Egg (Egg for transfer) on Friday. Egg sent me an internal messafe today saying they have closed the account and have sent the cheque! Now just to hope it gets there and BM don't **** it all up!

I wonder how BM's method of transferring works, because on the BM application form there's no where to enter any details of the current ISA provider from where the funds are to be transferred. BM's method of getting the account holder to send the portability form to the current ISA provider relies on the current ISA provider sending funds to BM, with no BM account number given. How on earth the two will get matched up, heaven knows. I'm waiting for a transfer from a matured Halifax ISA, and going on past ISA transfers, I'll be flabbergasted if it goes without any hitches.

By name... But thats a lot of effort to be honest lol. It means someone has to be there to look up the names of all the cheques that come in etc. glad I don't have that job!

Although I did write a NB on my application form when sending it back saying "ISA transfer is from Egg"

Has anyone managed to successfully transfer into this account yet? Mine's been opened, and Halifax have closed my old ISA account, but BM are saying that they haven't received funds (with the threat of the cut off date being 23 Feb). This is the same old boring story every year with whichever ISA provider I seem to choose. Just wondered whether anyone had managed to transfer in yet.
  • Hi,
I can say without doubt, this has been the best transaction I have ever done. Requested form on the 26/1/09 (isa w/d at close on business on this day) Application Form received 27/01. Completed and returned same day + notice to original Isa Provider (Darlington Building Society). Notified by Darlington money transferred to BM on the 30/01. BM confirmed A/c up and running at 4.2% fixed for 1 year. Can't get better than that! 5 days max. Sally.

How on earth did you manage to get this to go so smoothly! I sent my application form back to BM on the 24 January, and the transfer cheque was sent from Halifax on 3 February. BM say they can't trace having received either, but say they have such a back log it's impossible for them to track anything. I rang again today, and asked what happens if they still can't trace anything after the cut off date of 23 February, and they had no answer. I'm wondering whether they've had their quota, and are deliberately "losing" things. Forgive my scepticism, but after years of problematical transfers of ISAs, I don't believe anything the ISA providers say anymore.
