i thought i qualified under the special rules i cant take a single step without sever discomfat when i went to citizenz advice they told me that mobility side would give you enough points alone. i filled in the form that asked about how far you can walk yet im still been sent to theese interviews? is this rite?0

im all up for helping people with disabilitys back into work or helping them find some work they could actulay do i think that is a gr8 thing BUT making people with sever disabilitys feel like you are forcing them into work or pushing them into things they dont want to do is just wrong and dicracefull.
I think it is meant to assess what you can.or cannot do, rather than what you want to do.
I can see why you are annoyed - there is no need to treat people badly, or make them feel they are in the wrong. Plus, I'm not sure that is the most productive approach.
Who diagnosed your depression and anxiety? Your doctor should know about it?
Perhaps it is just my GP, but I am questioned about my mood/anxiety etc every time I visit him (no matter what I have gone for!) I certainly have no need to mention it. Do you have an annual review for it, or are you being treated for it?
Untreated depression and/or anxiety will only make things feel worse in situations like this.
My understanding is they are paid an awful lot of money for getting people into work and will therefore explore all the different avenues with you.
Try and give them a hearing. You never know, it may be a turning point for you?0 -
Hi jox,
If you feel you were treated badly you could put in a complaint to the Jobcentre. If they are told about poor staff attitudes that you come across then they have a chance to improve. There is info on how to do this on the Jobcentre Plus website.Torgwen.....................

Work-focused interviews
Most people claiming Employment and Support Allowance will be expected to take appropriate steps to help prepare for work, including attending a series of work-focused interviews with a personal adviser.
Support Group
Under Employment and Support Allowance, if people have an illness or disability that is too severe to undertake any form of work-related activity, they will get increased financial support and will not be expected to prepare for a return to work.
when and how do they decide weather you go into the work focus group or the support group?0 -

i second that! and the thing is people with real disabilitys are treated like we are able to work regardley of what we say, people think we exaggerate everything or love the benfit money too much. the people that do work all day everyday hate this and i can understand why but please dont judge us all as frauds :-(
has anyone got a link to the special rules? because im ceartain i qualify under them.
The thing is, there are a lot of people who claim DLA and work so it is not an automatic reason not to iyswim?
If they don't ask then they will have no idea whether this is the case for you or not?
There is no need to be rude about it though, I can see that.
The daft thing is, I bet the people who really should be working tend to take these interviews in their stride, and think no more of it!0 -

like i said i think for people that are capable of work who also get esa and dla then theese interviews are a good thing. for people like me who are unable to work and let me just clear that up i am unable to work full stop. i think we shouldent be forced into anything like this before the medicle exam at least!0
