Hi,
Im basically trying to use up the very last of my cupboards before going away. I have 2 cans of tuna, one frozen salmon fillet, potatoes, butter, milk, eggs, flour and cheese. The first thing that sprung to mind was fish pie....except i dont know how to make it, and all the online recipes use fresh fish and bake it in milk?!
Anyone able to help me out?0 -
i rarely use fresh fish, i make a simple cheese or parsley sauce, and pour over defrosted frozen fish and top with mash and put tin foil on top and cook for 40mins then take teh tin foil off for 10mins to brown usually about 180-200, if you have any frozen prawns you could throw them in aswellDEC GC £463.67/£450

Fish cakes?
Think I'd be flaking the fish into the mashed potatoes with egg to bind and optional cheese. Toss in flour and cook in a frying pan with a small amount of oil.

i would cook the salmon in some milk (from frozen should be fine) and boil the eggs. then add the tinned tuna to the salmon and eggs (halved) and top with mash and cheese. yumyum
or fishcakes is a good idea0 -
You could make fishcakes? I'm sure there is a recipe on here but the basics are tinned fish and mash potato.
Not much help I'm afraid as I hate fish! Usually poach for my dd. I made her a mini fish pie once using a cheese sauce once (bread, milk, flour and cheese).MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -

Hi junior_j,
You'll find lots of recipes in this thread:

To make it lower in fat, use skimmed milk to make the sauce. I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the recipes together.

To make it low fat instead of white sauce I use low fat cream cheese heated in a pan with stock made with a stock cube. I do this for lasagne too.0
