I use the packs too, I make a white sauce and add some fish stock parsley and dill and poach the fish in the sauce add peas top with mash and put in oven for about 20mins. We made it last week with chopped up carrots and leeks in the pie as they needed used, was also v yum!0

Nigella's "nursery fish pie" is divine, just google that then adapt the recipe to be a bit cheaper. Sometimes the chefs add expensive ingredients that make no difference at all!0

I use the Jamie Oliver method - you don't have to make a sauce or poach the fish. Mix the fish with a and carrot 2 sticks celery grated, 150g grated cheese, lemon juice and seasoning. Cover with mash and a bit more grated cheese and bake for 40ish mins at 200/gas 6. So yum. You can add spinach or hard boiled eggs before the mash too if you like. So, there are these boys,

Hi duckeggblue,
As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've added it to the main thread on fish pie which has lots of recipes that should help.

I wonder if anyone can help.
Last year I made a delicious fish pie out of Delias Christmas book she brought out. I didn't have the money to buy her book, and was lucky to get her Fish Pie recipe from a Sunday supplement.
It went down a storm.
Now roll forward to this year, my Mother-in-law who is hosting Christmas has gone to bed with a stomach bug, and the other people going have just had a new baby, so have been asked to roll out the fish pie again this year.
Can I for the life of me find the supplement!
I am also to roll out a lasagne, spiced biscuits and mince pies. I have recipes for all of these, and they aren't a problem. But I need to locate the recipe.
I have tried looking at Delia Online. Unfortunately it isn't there, I believe she rotates her recipes online.
Does anyone have the book and mind PMing the recipe?
It is the one with the gruyere cheese in the topping and smoked salmon as part of the filling.
Thank you so much in advance.0 -

No sadly not, but thanks for the link.
I eventually found the supplement I had from last year and frustratingly it is called Christmas Eve Hot Smoked Salmon Pie. Hence I couldn't find it on the Fish Pie search engine on her website.
Thanks again0 -
As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing fish pie thread to keep recipes together.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0

Hi all, I tried putting fish & pie into the search box and it came up with all kinds of threads, none of which seemed to cover how to make a fish pie.
I have a tray of assorted fish stuck in my freezer that I picked up because it was reduced and froze for later - its labelled "fish pie mixture" so contains who knows what?
But I've not made it into a fish pie and now times are getting desperate. Its shopping day and I've no idea what I need to get to finish this off. I've got 4 sad looking potatoes, 2 tins of condensed mushroom soup and not a great deal of money.
Recipes on the internet look like they are for the affluent but I hope someone here knows of a simple one I can adapt with only a few extra ingredients? Anyone?0
