I've done a fish pie using white fish in a homemade tomato and vegetable sauce. Delicious and you don't need to cook the fish, just place it uncooked in the dish you're going to use for the pie and pour the hot tomato sauce over the top. Leave for 10 mins, then top with hot mashed potato and bake for about 25 mins at 180 oC.

I usually cook my fish, eggs and prawns then tip over a can of mushroom soup. Then add the mash as the topping...warm it up .. has always gone down a treat and no messing with rouxs and whatever else... not sure how it compares health wize to a white sauce..0

I poach the fish in white wine, then remove the fish and reduce the wine before adding Philidephia. I use full fat, but you could use the low-fat version.
Is well lush.0 -
You can make a low fat white sauce by whisking sauce flour or cornflour with a little water to produce a paste, adding to milk and heating / whisking until thickened. The paste must be very smooth, and very thoroughly mixed, or else it won't work.
But really, a tablespoon of olive oil will not radically impact on the calorie content of the dish. Instead, augment the pie with vegetables (diced onion and sweetcorn, for instance) to bulk up without adding fat. Make a low-fat mash and omit the cheese.0 -

Hi there,
I make fish pie using the mixed packs all the time, and it is very tasty.
I am assuming the fish weighs somewhere between 300g and 450g for the purposes of this recipe.....
Make some parsley sauce:
In a small-medium sized pan, weigh out 1.5 ounces plain flour, 1.5 ounces butter / marg and three quarters of a pint of milk. Bring it all to the boil, stirring constantly. It will thicken then its boiled. Simmer gently for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. This is your white sauce and is a useful basis for many recipes. Add fresh chopped or dried parsley to taste. Add the juice of half a lemon. Seasosn with salt and pepper. Put the raw fish into the sauce.
Add a handful of sweetcorn kernels (defrosted if frozen) to the fish and sauce. Some people also like to put hardboiled egg quarters in, or peas.
Put the fish / sauce mix in an oven proof dish. Top with mash. Sprinkle some grated cheese on top if you fancy it. Bake it in the oven (about 180 egrees C) for about 30-40 minutes (unitl it is all piping hot and the top has browned).
Its nice served with green veg.
Hope that helps.

I do it with these by making a cheese sauce, adding the poached fish (in a little milk in the oven) and a tin of sweetcorn then top with mash! Yum Yum!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790
