What about a sleepover for a restricted number? The kids will be happy with a DVD and a selection of value goodies for a midnight feast, the fun element will be that they are all together camping in one room, for some it will be the first time away from home.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I always used to plan a craft activity at my daughters parties - if you can get hold of some big bits of paper, cut them into butterfly shapes & fold in half. Get children to paint half, fold over & then you will have same design on both halves. When dry they can decorate with glitter etc to take home.
You could explain to some of the other Mums that you need help or maybe someone from Rainbows would organise some activities for you.
Good Luck !0 -
for decorations you and your daughter could make lots of butterflys and put them up around the hall.
Also what about face painting butterflies onto the guests at the party - doesnt have to be very professional - butterflies would be quite easy
I saw a butterfly face paint kit in ELC yesterday, was about £3 and it does over 50 faces (which I think is pretty good) We went hobby craft for ideas today and came out with a big pack of foam butterflies that are quite large in nice pastel colours (on offer at £2.95) we will stick these around and at the end we can take them down and use them after for something else. Feeling pretty positive about it now.
Going to make butterly wings from cardboard and build up layers of coloured tissue paper and sequins. Getting quite excited!!
Found a butterfly shaped cake tin for £10 (going to look on e bay for cheaper) which is better than a £30+ cake that has been especially made0 -

This did cross my mind, we have loads of space to set up craft tables and food tables and have room to play0 -

She had a friend over in the summer.... I nearly lost my sanity!!! I think I'll hold out til they are a little older, but def going do it as it's a great idea, thanks!0 -
Hi there, thank for this thread it has been really helpful. I am in the same position my DD is 6 at the end of March and she doesn't stop talking about her 'party'. At this moment in time I have no idea what I am going to do, but reading through has helped enormously. She would love a disco party and I am thinking of clearing out our conservatory and trying to make it into a disco area, then just doing a standard tea party.
A kind friend has offered me her party cd's and a disco ball, so that is looking a possibility maybe for 5 or 6 little girls. I also thought about getting each of them to make something, haven't quite decided what.
Best of luck and I will continue to read with interest. The good you do comes back to you.DFW Long haul supporters No: 134
