  • RTA is a Road Traffic Accident

Although, in the world of Firefighters/Police etc they are called RTC's now. (Road TRaffic Collision) and there is apparently no such thing as 'an accident'

RTA ~ is Road Traffic Act, normally that have to give you 7 days notice they are cancelling/voiding a policy and this is the time to allow you to arrange alternative insurance. But yeah as you said you don't need insurance! Doh. Been almost a year since I worked in insurance so am rusty.

That does seem a long time, and can't understand why they'd push for a PI claim as they wouldn't benefit from it? Bizarre.

How was you DH caught speeding? Was it on a camera, because if so, then you honestly didn't know anything was pending... did they find out from his licence?

Most proposal forms will ask the question ~ do you have any convictions or pending enquiries?

the proposal form asked the question and I answered truthfully he had 1 speeding conviction. Then about a month later he got a letter about being caught speeding on the 14th July. When you send the letter off they endorse your licence with the date of conviction. When we rang to report the claim they asked the question about convictions again and OH said truthfully he had six points and that is when the red flag went up and they asked to see the driving licence. It only states the date of offence and not when those points were put on the licence.

I have six points for speeding and OH had 3 points at the time, why would I lie about one set of points. I have been on the receiving end of a non insured driver I would never do this intentionally.

I think they were pushing for a PI claim cos I don;t think the solicitors acting on our behalf were aware there was a potential issue with the licence...dropped us like hot potatoes now though:mad:
