Sounds like things are finally starting to turn around for you. The job front sounds a whole lot positive, and woooooooo to that huge number of mystery shops :j

Hi Greyhound...thankfully things seem to be taking a turn for the better on the jobfront at least - good luck for the interview on Monday.:D

We don't mind if you post something when you are low because we can try and give you a lift:D

Just popping by really - not feeling so good, as I think the lasagne I just cooked was slightly off (its been in the freezer for a while and I noticed that when I took the outer wrapping off to put it in the oven that there was a slit in it (I figured I had done it myself but maybe not:eek:).

Think I may have confused you Hypno :o, these assignments aren't actually mystery shops. I did some stocktake & compliance audit work for a Logistics company some time ago .... and I had a mad idea, so sent a speculative enquiry off to them (basically to see if I could help again with their stocktake) and they came back saying that they were looking at doing a pilot scheme and would I be interested .... errrrmmmmm .... that'd be a yes :rotfl:

  • Hi everyone, it’s been a long while since I’ve posted ……………… seems the Great Omnipotent’s still hadn’t quite finished with their tasks for me despite last years challenges.

Some may vaguely remember from my ealier posts about those and the subsequent scares re MIL health – unfortunately things declined severely again with her, and we finally lost her early July (sadly very close to my Dad’s 1st anniversary).

Dad’s probate application causing headaches still, severe back pain meaning the giving up of the new PT casual job, an agreement with someone I knew wasn’t upheld – leaving me more debt problems.

For the 1st time in my life been issued points on my licence (not to mention a nice fine) due to a delay in correspondence reaching me and having been randomly spot stopped… sigh…… I just have to believe that “They” have now filled my quota of tasks to overcome, and I can once again start moving forward – even if just now, it feels like from further back than I was.

I just have to believe that “They” have now filled my quota of tasks to overcome, and I can once again start moving forward – even if just now, it feels like from further back than I was.

    On a more positive side:
I have just done a Month’s temp contract, Assignment work has been ticking over, though affected by the “seasonal lull” in between campaigns. I found a few more companies looking for people to do similar work. One are really keen due to the experience I’ve got doing this – and they appear to have quite a bit of work possible for me.

I’ve decided to pursue one of the ventures alone, as it is in a growth area due to new regulations and there is a good chance that this would expand enough to take on ad-hock people to assist. (following my new ethos of work smarter not harder!!)

Met with another company, who are looking for people they can train to become Consultants. Going to seriously consider this, as it would actually fit in very well with freelance work I want to develop.

I looking at PT PAYE position to help me secure the finance side of things I want to achieve.

I’m going to take on the “Rent a Room” scheme – which will give me £350 a month tax free earnings as a start.

I have lots I want to do in the coming days / weeks / months to move things forward, and I have already got myself diaries ready to plan ahead for next year ! More determined than ever to push forwards, and will make a commitment to myself to update this thread at least once a week – even if its only waffled ramblings.

Added Debt Totals to signature (I’m classing Mortgage as a debt!) Need to redo my SOA, but find it’s confusing on the income side –due to the “adhock” type work.

Working on Plan of action for next week (including tomorrow), which I will post a bit later.

    Thanks for reading

Sorry to see you're still having such a rotten time.

How did it go renting the second house? Has that generated you an income yet?

    How is OH keeping?

    Thanks Guys,

KJ - The renting was one of the things that caused me one of the problems I mentioned in my previous post ... sigh. :(

SH - That's almost what I keep repeating to my self..... baby, baby, baby steps - one at a time :p

Yesterday was positive for me …. I could even be bold enough to say it was darn right co-operative. :rotfl:

Had a call from BCO (the new Assignment company) and booked in 6 Assignments so far for August, so that’s a good start. Three others are sending intro packs to me – then need to complete the forms & return to them. All sounded quite hopeful regarding work availability, I’m positively beaming. :T

Though getting in the first place wasn’t good, I paid my fine (through gritted teeth) so that’s done and dusted. Not happy about it but just have to live with it and move on, no point in griping about it – only 6 years for the points to get removed.

A small bonus payment came in – so used it to clear one of the smaller debts, that’s one less debt to worry about. I will update my signature & also the debt post, as there have been some changes on that – Some have gone up, some down, some paid, and alas due to the recent palaver a couple of new ones. :o

Four other smaller creditors / collection agencies –have agreed to my suggested payment amounts / periods (some starting end of this month, some end of next month), so that’s helped greatly. So added to two of the Bank debts (OD’s) which I’ve agreed terms with – that’s six dealt with. Still got a few more to deal with yet though, not to mention the re-financing I’m hoping for on the house. :p

I’ve booked the training course to get the certificate I need to become a Consultant for this other company. Just not so keen on the three days I need to spend in London for it…. Ugh.

I found an advert for space hire available in a new “bazaar” type set up not too far away from us, considering the options on this for my “products” business. Think I need to go have a peek at the set up.

OH has finally been given an OT consultation appointment – hopefully this will be a positive meeting and they will be able to give him additional therapy specifically tailored to helping him improve enough to return to work at some point. He has improved a little, but nothing significant. I need to get him out and doing things – he still seems unable to motivate himself to get on & do stuff. I find him information, but he seems unmotivated to follow it up himself.

I’ve done some long hard thinking and despite still believing that if I keep the other house and rent it out, it would in the long term become a passive income stream – I’ve come to the decision that if I can transfer the mortgage to Dad’s house and obtain a top up for the difference, I will now sell the other one.
At the end of the day, if it’s the choice between them – I’d opt for keeping Dad’s every time, even if it means slightly more financial commitment on the mortgage side. Not to mention that I’m not sure that I could go back & live there now, it gives me the feeling of a bad luck omen (I know that must sound daft) – just seems to be too many bad situations associated with it. :(

Debt-Busting is going to be my consuming passion for the immediate future, together with MSE living. I’ve been “dabbling” with lots of things from the OS boards, but will be notching that up a gear as well. I think I may be hanging out (or should that be lurking ?) a lot on those boards in the coming weeks & months ! :o:D

Will be doing some ruthless sorting & de-cluttering, even with Dad’s things. I am making up a (fairly large) Memories Box, into which I will put some of Mum & Dad’s favourite things along with some of my favourite items of theirs for me to keep as mementos. :(
Other items that are serviceable (although not my personal taste) – I will put aside to “re-create” into something more my style. The rest will either be kept until I can afford to replace them (or until I recover our stuff from the other house), given to charity / freecycle, or taken to a car-boot / put in freeads. The same goes for all my / our things.

Lots of things I’m setting out to do, I have to believe that whatever I need to achieve them - will come to me as & when the time is due.

EDITED TO ADD: I've now updated Post #2 with the uptodate Debt figures etc along with my shiny new signature :A

I can completely empathise on the OH front. Somedays it feels like pushed water uphill...and especially watery water at that!

And renting. I can honestly say I've never found it a passive income. We do have some tenants who are lovely, we rarely hear from them and when we do it's a genuine problem which we can have fixed. The others!! It would be easier if I moved in as their mother because they can't pay rent, pay bills, stop anything with a plug exploding etc etc. Best one was the chap who phoned at 6am on Sunday to moan that he didn't have any carbon monoxide. He had a monitor and he didn't have any and what was I going to do about it...there is no civilised answer to that question :rotfl:

Best of luck whichever route you choose.

  • Seemed to be flat out over the weekend,,,, but can't really see what I did for all the effort !!

One of the mutts decided to have my portable diary as an aperitif yesterday  Wasn't looking forward to having to pay £10 to replace it especially as I'll only need it for the rest of 2009  BUT, while out this morning, found a shop selling the "academic" ones (09 / 10) for £3.50 ..... needless to say I pretty much snapped their hands off to buy one :rotfl: Just finished transferring all my appointments into it from the desk diary.

Completed the first two Assignments from the new client, they seemed nice & straight forward too, which is good. Plus my usual client has just started allocating the new campaign assignments for September, and I've now got six of those to add to the diary so far. :j

I've also just stumbled over the bag of ink cartridges (forgot where I'd put them for safe keeping :o ), So I shall be boxing them up tonight (2 batches) ready to send tomorrow to the relevant recycle companies and that should hopefully net me about £50 - £60 to hit the debts with.

Decided to spend some money on a pair of kitchen base units, to make up my “breakfast bar / workstation”, as the worktop’s been sat there for over 3 months now without being done :o. I also changed my mind on the location, instead of facing an interior wall it now looks onto the garden – hoping that it will give me some inspiration when I use it for working at :p

Seemed to spend ages “clearing” at the weekend…. But somehow only managed to fill a few rubbish sacks for the tip  and why is it that when you start de-cluttering …. You always seem to have an even bigger “mess” than before you started ?

I'm thinking of quietly joining in on the "PAD Challenge" ..... But I will do the actual "paying" either on a weekly or monthly basis to start with, as I don't know how much I'll have to "play" with. As I'm still doing both the 20p & £2 "savers club" & have been putting in all the coppers in another jar, I'm going to use this money as well to put towards a debt each month - this will hopefully be in addition to PAD money

Other than that, not alot else at the moment, except trying to catch up with subscribed diaries (where's a swoon smiley when you need one ?) Alas, it seems a never ending job in itself.... just as I catch up with one diary.... everyone else has gone n added another 10 pages :rotfl:

Well that's my RMF waffles for now - my signature is now upto date, and I've revised all my figures etc in post #3

Well, the bag of cartridges - turned out not to be cartridges :o ... I've obviously moved the them from that bag into something else - didnt come accross them during my clearing session yesterday (or the mini one this morning) - so will need specifically play hunt the cartridges, as I really want them earning me pennies !!

Done some worky bits this morning, so pleased with that - booked some more work in, and sent off the application forms I'd completed. Also did a bit more virtual job hunting, and found a couple to apply for. _party_

Didn't have a good night, couldnt sleep - seem to be suffering from a go slow today because of it  Need a jar of motivation :rotfl:

    Off back to me lists...
