That was back in the late 90s/early 00s. Hoxton isn't as hip as it used to be - it was at its hippest back during the start of the Brit Art era.

My above comments are not intended to put people off, but are directed at people who don't know the east-end, and are may be expecting a location similar to more well-known hotel locations. Shoreditch is one of the highest crime areas of London, and certainly for Hackney, and as an ex-Londoner, I'd personally say that anyone who doesn't know Shoreditch, shouldn't be walking around there alone after dark with a suitcase in tow, and would find it easier to pay £5-10 to catch a cab from a station.

I have been to the Hoxton 4 or 5 times ( not always £1.00 rooms) and never felt unsafe. My son lives in Central London and his girlfriend often takes clients there for dinner. Obviously you need to be careful anywhere these days. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from Old St Station so even a taki from there would be cheap if you were worried. By the way the restuarant is fab and if you eat before 7.00p.m. you can get Main courses for £7.00. Breakfast too is great although you get a free Banana, Orange Juice and yoghurt delivered to your room anyway ( included in £1.00) Goid luck all

Why do I always start shaking and get clammy hands when these offers are a few minutes away!

Got a pound room a couple of years ago and this is a COOL, trendy hotel! You get a Pret a Manger granola yogurt with this free brekkie, yummy!

    good luck...........

Don't pay too much attention to that - it's based on your computer's clock (which is fast), not theirs. It's just an approximate countdown that's all.
  • My office is 4 minutes walk from the Hoxton Hotel. OK, it's a bit more gentrified than it used to be, but it's a great area to be.

Dangerous???? Not at all. And that involves many late nights stumbling out of back street pubs and clubs towards Old St or Liverpool St. Never felt at all threatened.
  • It doesnt even give me the bookings opportunities.
  • Anyone had any luck on this one yet? Site is uber slow but doesn't seem to have crashed as yet!
