i know that you say that you currently can't afford the £20 a month, but on its own £20 is not a lot of money to find in a month.
Can't you try all the usual suggestions such as ebaying stuff, doing surveys etc?I like to save the money...0 -

have you done a statement of affairs? Working out your income each week or month, and how much you spend on the different categories eg rent, gas, electric, food, council tax, tv licence, all the different categories...
have you checked are you entitled to any more benefits or tax credits than you get?
Could you get a part time job to help pay it back sooner?Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -

NO - you got yourself.
If you go talk to them and see what transpires.
Ignoring stuff never works, it only frustrates everyone.
And perhaps think about the fact that a debt is a moraL obligation as well as a legal one.
I know several people who claim they can't meet their debts but BUT THEY ALL SMOKE?????????
I tell you, the quality of "advice" given by amateurs on here makes me livid sometimes. I sometimes think people are simply here to assert their own agenda and not to help others as they profess!
Someone even mentions a delinquent debt is even worse than bankruptcy!!!
Only Clapton and Opinions appear to post any logic.
Sorry for my anger....
But Winnie clearly needs to get some proper advice, ie the CAB would be a good start, so as to get this sorted.0 -
How much does your Internet connection cost? Could you end that and pay the money towards your card?0

Sorry, but the bank has to take a portion of blame here for giving a credit card to someone with no income as such and being on benefits. A lot of you on here will disagree with this but if the banks didn't throw loans and cc around so much and changed their scoring system even slightly there may not be as much debt around. i should imagine the OP debt has gone on living expensesWow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted
I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p

Clearly the OP is not savvy with credit, and for somebody entering retirement this is not really right is it? The bank can be held accountable for this to a certain degree as credit should not have been granted to the OP without a half decent income -I have a clean credit record and cant get a card with more than £500!
Some leniency should be levied here.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
You need to look at serious ways to reduce your current outgoings in order to increas eyour payments on the credit card (like you don't already know that!)
What were your original plans to repay this debt when you took the credit card? Or was method of repayment not really considered?
I don't really see how the blame can be thrown just in the banks court as the op was also aware that they were on benefits and close to retirement - however, apportining blame to either party is not helping the op repay the debt. Post your SOA so that people can give suggestions as to where it may be possible to make savings in order that you can throw them at this debt.0 -

You want apportion blame. Then the blame lies with people like you (the reactionaries) that allowed this sort thing to happen in the first place - ie the election of the Tories in 1979! Capitalism is the evil here - not some poor victim of it!0
