Argos Ripped Me Off

Just before xmas i done some last min extra toy shopping at Argos.
The items i bought were put in the bags, and the lad who was bagging the toys was signing the stuff off as he was putting them in the bag.
Now on xmas eve while wrapping all the presents, i realised one of the presents i had purchased was no where to be seen. I then started too wonder if the lad had not put it in the bag, so i immediately checked my receipt and found that the missing toy on the receipt was not signed. so the lad had obvioulsy not spotted there was one more item to be bagged and signed.
the item was not exactly a big toy, it was only bought for £10 but its something i payed for and didnt recieve.
A few days ago, my father in law asked me to go along to Argos with him while he bought something. i thought seen as i'm going there, i might as well get that toy for my son and give it to him as a gift. so i grabbed the receipt and went.
I told the girl on the checkout, i never receieved an item i purchased just before xmas, and showed her the receipt. she went away for about 10mins, then when she returned she said she checked the balance and there was nothing showing up on the computer. i presume the balance is to check stock levels, so if my item was put back, it would show up as +1?
any way she was persistent in going off what the computer said. i said so basically i'm £10 down and have nothing to show for it, cause the computer says so? i also said look i'm not exactly going to lie over £10 the proof is on the receipt that i never got it.
in the end i just said i tell you what, you keep that £10 but i'll not be shopping at Argos no more if this is how you repay loyal customers, who spend literally thousands each year.
imo i reckon the lad realised his mistake and got rid of the evidence, or someone stuck it in there pocket.
Does anyone know if there is an address i could write a letter too, as i'm still pretty much furious at the way they just cast aside my rights to what i payed for. its only a tenner but its my tenner.
thanks:D

Go into Argos and ask for the address of the head office.0

hehe it will cost me about another £10 in petrol just to pop down and ask for the address.

i'll have a look on the argos web site.
my initial post was more off a rant.0 -
Try emailing Home Retail Group. http://www.homeretailgroup.com/home/tools/contact/
I found them to be really helpful.Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -
They may have given it to the next customer by mistake, or someone else could have picked it up with their goods if it was on the counter.
It could be a genuine mistake on behalf of Argos if it isn't in stock now.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

If it wasn't so long ago they would have been able to look at the CCTV, but don't think they will be able to look at footage from that long ago.
Do try Customer Services, they may be a little more helpful than the staff in store.0 -
sounds as if nearly a month may have passed....who's to say....
the lad signed so many slips that day, when he lifted the last couple of items he just stuck his sig at the bottom...you may have lost the item on the way home...who knows....pretty sure if I had got home I would have checked in the bag....and got straight back onto them....the same day....
I would say the Argos stock system isnt too robust...
personally speaking....I think you left it just a wee bit too long before complainingI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
Usually there are different people picking the items and on the collection counter. This would mean the guy didn't collect the items - he would have simply put them in the bag and stamped them as he went along. His mistake was not noticing that there was an item that wasn't stamped, and letting you leave - the item probably arrived a couple of minutes later after you'd left!
Did the member of staff get a manager at all? If not, I would try again, because they may have simply looked at what the stock levels should be and checked how many there are on the shelf. Whilst this is the correct way to check if somebody returns on the same day, it should be different if they return weeks later. Basically, if somebody returns on the same day then there will be one more on the shelf than there should be. However, over the next few weeks, the fact that there are too many could be noticed e.g. during a stock check. If they've then adjusted the stock balance, the system would no longer show a discrepancy!
So anyway, I'd check once more and ask if they can check to see if the quantity has been adjusted on the system at all...
Good luck x:A0 -
Was the item marked on the receipt as received?!
if u bought loads why didnt u check it was all there before leaving?0 -

The item was not marked as received, and was actually the last item on the receipt. the lad put it into the bag, and i left and put the stuff in the boot.
I haven't had time to go back to Argos as i'm a full time carer, so cant just swan off to Argos any time i like.
besides its all sorted now any ways. i spoke to the head office on the phone, and emailed them a scan of my receipt, and was sent the toy as well as a £50voucher.

Hmmm. Sounds like a licence to rip Argos off to me...0
