Actually a very good deal. You would be hard pressed to find Vista Ultimate OEM for less than £120 through normal online retailers.

there is always one isn't there, :p:)

anyway this is aimed at the people/members/guests on this site that would like to leave xp behind and go on to vista, I have vista ultimate already on my laptop so was looking for another copy for my son's desktop so this is pretty much what I want really, as Vista is quite pricey since the credit crunch came in, this is right up my street as I wanted an external hard drive also, so this is killing two birds with one stone,
and I happen to love Vista I would never go back to xp. ever.

I have been watching this price for a while now, it was £111.00 in November but then started to go up so this is great for £139.99 + £15 for a caddie for the hdd, can't be bad.
you can still buy it for £139.99 without the hdd, but why would you want to do that.
    :D
actually there was 904 when I ordered mine now on 897 so going down...
not quite like hot cakes but hey its a good buy, one per household though.

Well I got mine today, so next day free delivery, really simple to sort out, open the caddie by unscrewing the (4) four screws at the back (2) two at the top and (2) two at the bottom of the back of the caddie, then slip out the insides now fit the hard drive with the four biggest screws provided, once the drive is secure slip it back inside the caddie, and using the screw driver provided in the box, screw the (4) four screws back in.
once done fit the plug and usb cable and plug it in to the mains and the usb port on your system, now if you have vista it'll only install a couple of drivers and thats it,
now it wont show up in My Computer, so go to
    start
and type in the seach bar
    computer management
    now once here click on,
    Disk management,
now on the right-hand side it'll show your drives.
on the Disk 1 right-click and go to properties, then New,
now this is where you need to tell it to format, just click on next and give it a letter, now I had c, d, and f already so this one is now gonna be g drive, then set is off formatting in either Fat 32 or NTFS which ever the other drives are in it'll tell you at the top of the page if you look at the other drives, once the drive has formatted it'll show up in My Computer as the G Drive, now as mine is 1T I have named the drive G Drive but also 1T Giant, so I know which one it is.

  • With Windows 7 due out sometime this year Vista is being /will be treated like Windows ME (i.e buried and forgotten)! It's cheaper just to buy a 1TB drive from Amazon for £80!

It is not cheaper to "just buy a 1TB drive for £80" if you want Vista too, hence the content of this post. As much as you want to dispute it ,Vista will be around for a long time - just as XP is now.

Hi I don't think W7 is out this year well the Beta is, and the price was £215 for this but now it's in the sale, the hdd alone is £74 I think off the top of my head, I wouldn't give up on Vista just yet.

    decent windows operating systems

    windows 3.11 for workgroups
    windows 95
    windows 98 se
    windows 2000
    windows xp pro
    windows server 2003
    windows 7

    crap windows operating systems

    windows 3.1
    windows 98 first edition
    windows me
    windows vista

vista is awful, nothing you can do can say that this is great, windows vista rules, because there are so many issues with vista!

roll on windows 7, which even in beta, seems faster than what vista ever does
