We were in Tenerife in January, using our free flights we won in the Jet2 competition last year. We only ate out for dinner, cooked for breakfast and lunch. Didn't go shopping or anything like that and managed to spend £600 in a week between two of us.
It was a toss up between Sharm and Dominican Republic, I can't say no to the price I've found for Dominican though.
Wow! That's a lot to spend (for us anyway) - only spent £400 in 9 days in Hong Kong (and we got taxis absolutely everywhere - we're sooooooo lazy :rotfl:) and when we go to Turkey it's even less and this year when we go to Egypt it will be even less cos I still haven't found a job (just applied for 300th job in 6 months)
Have the best time in the Dominican - just think of the tan you will come back with - so jealous!:j:T Total Prize Value 2012 - £1835 :T:j

Got a reply from Jet2 today, it is a complete joke! Totally avoiding everything I said. Here we go:
First can I just say this is a letter from the same woman who emailed me, so !!!!!! was the point in sending a letter??
Thank you for your letter received by us on 18 March. As stated on our website any correspondence to our Customer Care Team must be made in writing (IS AN EMAIL NOT IN WRITING?) and we aim to respond within 21 working days. Unfortunately we do not offer an email service (WHY?!) and are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
We would like to thank you for entering our 'Name that destination' competiton and are very sorry you have had difficulty in getting the dates you require.
It does clearly state in the competitions terms and conditions that there are specific block out dates and any requests within these dates will be rejected. We have placed the relevent sections from the web below and a compy of the block out dates:
(bit from T&C's)
The terms and conditions did change a couple of days after the winners were launched. This was due to an error in the block out dates. They only showed the dates for Leeds Bradford airport (!!!!!!!!! THE ORIGINAL DATES FOR LEEDS BRADFORD ARE DIFFERENT TO THE ONES ON THERE NOW) and not any of our other airports we use, where the school and bank holidays differ. It does clearly state that we can alter the terms and conditions at any time (KNEW THEY WOULD GET THIS BIT IN)
NOT SURE WHY THEY'VE MENTIONED THIS, I NEVER PUT ANY FLIGHTS IN THAT WERE IN THE BLOCK OUT PERIOD.
We did realise that there was a problem with many Hotmail accounts blocking the sending of email confirmations to winners. We sent out letters to all customers who we had rejected emails and also allowed customers to request their flights without using the unique reference number online (DID THEY? I NEVER HEARD ABOUT THIS!). This technical issue has been noted for future competitions and alternative methods of contact will be looked into.
Customers who had trouble getting their email confirmation were not at a disadvantage with receiving the flights they required. Many people
have yet to request their options, and infact of the 11,000 free return flights we gave away so far only 1300 people have redeemed their winner's flights. Also flights can be booked up until 31 March 2010 and this equates to many thousands of options in which winners can request their seats.
ARE THESE PEOPLE THICK?? WHETHER 10 PEOPLE OR 10000 PEOPLE GOT THERE FLIGHTS BEFORE WE GOT OUR CONFIRMATIONS THEY STILL MAY HAVE TAKEN UP THE SEATS ON THE FLIGHTS WE WANT. ALSO, WEEKS AGO THEY TOLD ME 1200 PEOPLE HAD REDEEMED THERE FLIGHTS. PERHAPS THE OTHER 1000'S OF PEOPLE ARE UNABLE TO GET A SEAT ON ANY OF THE FLIGHTS THEY WANT.
We have spoken to our Marketing Team and Call Centre with regard to the options you submitted. They have told us they have checked many flights for you (DID THEY? ONCE, THEY CHECKED, AND THIS WAS AFTER ASKING IN EVERY FORM I SUBMITTED FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS! AND WRITING EMAILS ASKING THE SAME THING) You requested travel after the 25th June and returning before 16th July (THIS WAS ORIGINALLY WHEN I FIRST STARTED APPLYING FOR FLIGHTS, I'VE ENDED UP GETTING FLIGHTS FOR JAN) Unfortunately many of the destinations you required only fly once a week from our bases and therefore they couldn't get a return sector within the dates you required and before the block out dates started. This time of year is also our busiest flight period so many families have already booked and paid for their summer flights to these destinations when they went on sale last year. This has lead to much reduced availability. (THEY'RE ALL STILL AVAILABLE TO BUY ONLINE THOUGH, FUNNY THAT) These destinations are also some of our most popular so the demands for seats on these flights are very high. (IF I HAD KNOWN WE COULD ONLY GO TO THE UNPOPULAR DESTINATIONS I WOULDN'T HAVE BOTHERED ENTERING)
We can also see that you were offered flights to Ibiza on 25th June returning 9th July but these were not suitable. Unfortunately we do ask customers to be flexible with their choices and dates but do state in in the terms and conditions that if none of the flights you requested are suitable then alternatives will be offered.
I KNEW THEY WOULD BRING THIS UP, THIS IS THE FIRST FLIGHT I WAS OFFERED AND IT WAS ONLY LAST WEEK THEY OFFERED ME IT AFTER I HAD SENT THE LETTER IN. I DECIDED I WOULD RATHER PAY FOR MY OWN SUMMER HOLIDAY THAN SETTLE FOR WHATEVER WAS LEFT THAT NOBODY ELSE WANTED.
We can see you also requested flights into the New Year. Many of the destinations you mentioned e.g. Greece, Turkey, Ibiza etc are a summer only destination. (I NEVER PUT THESE PLACES DOWN FOR THE NEW YEAR, DO THEY THINK I'M STUPID, I PUT TENERIFE, EGYPT AND LANZAROTE). This may be why your choices for these dates were rejected (OR MAYBE NOT! IDIOTS)
As previously stated we still have around 9700 customers who have yet to claim their flights and still have plenty of availbility for their choices. We are unsure who has told you that no further flighst were availble for winners. (I NEVER SAID THIS! I SAID THAT LAUREN GODFREY TOLD ME SHE WAS UNABLE TO HELP ME ANYMORE BUT HARDLY THE SAME THING)
There's another paragraph of crap about my feedback helping them and that is about it.
I'm even more angry now. I don't even want to use my flight 'cos I'll have to pay for baggage and that means giving Jet2 my money   :mad:0 -
This whole competition is a farce from beginning to end, jet 2 have lost all credibitlity. Having read what Lexilex got back in return to the excellent letter that was sent a whole heap of questions are still unanswered.
I too have put in numerous request for flights many with specific dates which all got rejected and some with no specific dates just a destination and a request for what dates are left which I got no response to, my last request I sent over 3 weeks ago which they haven't replied to and I also emailed them which they haven't replied to either.
As you can probably tell I am getting slighlty frustrated, what really gets me is that only 1300 flights have been booked so far according to there own letter which means 9700 still have to have to go through this rigmarole, so if we on MSE are having this trouble which will only be a minority there are going to be many more thousands who will likely not get a flight at all as jet2 are obviuosly struggling to reply to only a few hundred requests at the moment.
Good luck who is ever left trying to get these so called "free" flights but with all the many strings attached I beleive Jet2 will undoubtable win when many people give up trying to use there farcical company
well done Jet2 you have lost more future customers than you will gain with your pathetic attempt at a "fantastic" competition0 -
Would you like the email address for the lady from customer services? She replied very quickly to me.
I'm wondering if giving them a link to this topic would be a good idea?0 -
Aha! Found this, this is from 17th Feb, post 342 of this thread
As we gave away 10,000 free return flights I can assure you that the short delay in winners emails to Hotmail addresses will not make a difference as to whether the flights you want are available. There is plenty of availability out there and currently only 1200 people have requested their flights but obviously it depends on the destination you want and the dates you have chosen.
So that means in over 5 weeks they've only booked another 100 flights. If that's the case why is it such a long process? I thought they must be so busy sorting through the requests and thats why they took so long replying to emails.
Or, they're lying. More likely story.0 -

Defo! So I was one of the lucky 100 to be dealt with between then and now - their noses must be soooooooooooooooo long :rotfl:And judging by the letter you got I don't even think they read it - how can such a large company get away with it - as I and others said a while ago people who enter competitions like these (especially at the moment) are (usually) desperate for time away from unemployment, redundancy, financial worries but then they treat us so badly - well, when I finally get a job (another interview on Tuesday) I will NOT be giving Jet2 my hard earned money!:j:T Total Prize Value 2012 - £1835 :T:j

Please that may help but I have already emailed Jgodfrey@jet2.co.uk and when I sent her a message on Friday I got an out of office reply saying she was away on business and if it was urgent to contact marketing@jet2.co.uk.
I sent an email to this address requesting some help and put an automatic read receipt on it, I got 5 emails saying 5 individual people in marketing read my complaint but no one actually replied to me.
I am now going to email all these 5 people (as there individual read receipt confirmation came back with there personal email address on LOL) and Lgodfrey again until I get a reply, I have asked already for ANY flights that are left for May,June or July from Manchester and Leeds/Bradford so I can just choose one.
This whole competition has to be one of the biggest marketing disasters in some time - "how to lose friends and con people" by JET20 -
I'll send you a PM now with the address. Don't know whether they'll reply but it's worth a try.
I told Lauren Godfrey where we wanted to go and when and she told us the available dates. She did take aaaages to reply though, and made out that she shouldn't be doing it and it was a gesture of goodwill :rolleyes:0 -
just submitted again..wins..
2x jet 2 flights0 -
If I were you I would book the flights, anywhere, even if you don't go. At least that way your taking up a seat, and Jet2 will loose money by not been able to sell that seat.
Have a great time in Egypt, let us know what it's like, I nearly booked to go there myself.0
