Rachie- How are you managing just 3 days off? Are you going for less than a week? Just interested. I try to make the most on inset days (teacher training etc) to reduce any term-time hols.

    hiya

we are going from wed - sunday (so he only needs the wed /thurs/fri off ) he will go back on the monday :D

if i was taking the pi55 and taking him out of school for more than the 10 days a yr "allowed" then i could understand what the fuss was about but i dont and so erm dont :p

but not sure i agree with the bit about being wealthy = less stress ,
a lot of people who are in the higher paid jobs have to work long hours in hugely stressful positions to get said high salary

I agree sometimes that is the case, but as someone who has been in both positions and now own our own business, I know what situation I'd rather be in. In my experiened when we were poor my husband worked really long hours for a very low wage. With our own business although he still works long hours he makes more in a week than he made in 2 months. Many people with low incomes work very long hours as well, but they also have the stress of not being able to pay their bills etc. Also the depression of being in a dead end jobs with very little future.

    Thanks spursman.

So in a normal course of events it is a £50 fine AND court appearance (which runs the risk of criminal record)? What exactly is the crime?

If it's just a £50 fine then i can imagine many parents will just see the economic advantage of the holiday costing them £50 extra per child rather than an extra £1000 in school holiday time.

well i must be really thick as i don't know what all these are!

I can see why the government are cracking down but it appears to me a case of the majority being penalised for the actions of a few.

A slightly different matter, but anyway... i' went to my child's future school (starting reception class in sept) to talk to them as i wish to withdraw him on a friday lunchtime for religious reasons to attend worship (muslim) and that he'll miss part of friday afternoon because of it (although i'll return him to school asap) and the head has already told me i can't and threatened me with a EWO visit and my DS hasn't even started at the school yet!

Is it really neccessary for a child who's not even 5 yet to attend worship for any religion?
If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in :D

If ther question was directed at me then my answer is "yes".

I personally wouldn't use the Sunday schools either, but then I'm not interested in any religion whatsoever.

Each to their own I suppose.

Sorry for going off topic! End of subject then.

    13 Days?
That's about 6.5% of the year's education thrown away!
May get away with it in Y7 but any later must cause problems.
    Can I help?
