Hi all,
I have been reading all your threads with great interest, you all so talented!
A few years ago I made a scrap for my Dad as christmas present, kind of a "this is your life" book. I went to Hobbecraft and spent a fortune on bits and pieces and all the tools etc. I still have some bits left and I made our New address cards when we moved house.
But how do I get started up again without spending loads on materials? I have looked all the things you guys have made and I am certainly inspired, but dont know whether I should start collecting things as I see them in shops? or do one big spend and then add to it as I go??

I was browsing through some craft sits and found this, I remembered someone looking for ideas of crafts to make with teenage girls and thought this might be good. I know it says it's for valentines, but doesn't have to be.
Oh and i know it uses Herseys kisses as the head phones but i thought you could use those foam mushroom sweets covered in tin foil. instead0 -

This site is very good, however, when I started watching the tv crafts I couldn't get out of it and the 'happy birthday' advert was on a loop and ended up watching them make a leprechaun and all sorts I wasn't interested in. But I agree, the project with the headphones is really good.0 -

Hi there!
I'm quite new on here too and have only really been involved in jewellery making, but seeing all the fab stuff on MSE has got me itching to give some of things on here a try and I was thinking the same thing myself about what to buy and when.
In the end I've decided I'm going to choose something that if it works out well I'll want to make more if them, so I will just buy what I need for that project and build up my supplies stock from there.
I've almost decided to go for the 'gift in a jar' idea and a friend has given me a load of jars to get me started so I will take it from there.Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...:whistle:0 -
Need some suggestions please, I bought these two baskets for 10p each (BARGAIN) there are more that I can buy but I need to figure out what I can do with them first.
(Will be using one as a fruit bowl but need something I can make with it before I buy more.)

http://www.save-on-crafts.com/howtomakribr.html they're pretty and look reasonably easy to make*~* My life is a little mystery that I am still trying to solve*~*0

What a bargain! How above weaving ribbon around it and using them as baskets for small hampers? I think that would look pretty, where did you get them from? x0

I was thinking something like that but didn't know how to go about it.
The village health food shop had a box outside the shop saying 10p each. They had quite a few and I'm tempted to go get some more lol*~* My life is a little mystery that I am still trying to solve*~*0 -

At 10p each they are fab - I'd buy more as you're bound to come up with lots of ideas once you get going!
That site you gave a link to is just fantastic - I love so many of the ideas on it so I've put it straight into y favourites! :T
What about making a lamp by stringing fairy lights through flowers a bit like this idea?Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...:whistle:0
