Its all different pink fabrics, really pretty, with a drawstring like the PE bags that go over two arms and hang at the back. I took the strings out of her old bag and used them. I lined it too with a bit of fabric from an old quilted bedspread so its quite strong.
She really liked it but when she took it to school yesterday she said the girls in her class were taking the mick saying she was homeless and a tramp and couldnt afford to buy a proper bag, she said she was in tears all day. I felt terrible when she told me as I felt it was my fault she got the mickey taken out of her. I told her if she wants I will buy her a new bag today but she said she loves the bag, just doesnt like the girls picking on her.
Anyway, this morning as she left she picked up the bag to take with her, I said are you sure you want to take it, she turned it round and she had stuck a note on the bag saying "i love my bag, so you dont have to". Made me feel proud of her that she wasnt going to let them beat her. Just hope she doesnt ahve any trouble today.
I was going to make one of these bags each for my nieces for Christmas but am wondering now whether they would like them? I really thought they would, they are all a bit older, daughter is 13 and the niecxes are nearly 15, 16 and 18. What do you think?
Good for her!! kids are so cruel sometimes:mad: you should be proud of her:T I bet when she goes into school today and shows them girls that she doesn't care what they think they will stop this nasty behaviour:mad: Its so sad that kids are so obsessed with names and how much things cost. It makes a refreshing change to hear about someone like your daughter, well done to her:T You should def make them for your neices, you might start a trend and all the girls will want one even those nasty ones;)Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)
Diet starts today(31/12/16)! Only 18lbs to lose:eek:

I think the bags sound fab, but maybe whether or not your nieces would like them would depend on whether or not they follow fashion religiously or like to have something a bit different to everyone else - they can be so fussy at that age.
About your daughter - if you are planning to make more bags anyway is it worth asking her if she has a particular friend she'd like to ask if they would like you to make them one too? Then they could be making a kind of fashion statement of their own - may be even set a trend? Just an idea.
PS If it did set a trend you could make them to sell to the other girls!Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...:whistle:0 -

Thanks for that. Yes I will ask her. My nieces do like things that are a bit different so think I will still make them, they can always hang them on a door in their bedroom with bits in if they dont want to take them out. Was going to make one each for my sisters too but in the shape of those shopping bags all the shops are selling, not the hessian ones but the black ones if you know what I mean. The fabrics are all nice stuff with lots of sparlkly bits here and there, sequins, that kind of thing.
Thanks Stardrops too.0 -
Big hugs to you and DD rufus - I really admire her for taking her bag today. I know I wouldn't have been that brave at that age.
The girls are probably just jealous! My DD has had problems at school because she doesn't like chocolate of all things :mad:Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

This story first made me sad then happy that your daughter has such a great attitude, it shows how much she loves you too! I think it sounds like a lovely idea to make a bag for one of her friends too (and you can make one for me too!)God is good, all the time
Do something that scares you every day

Just sewing up a cardigan for my other daughter, its a cropped one which she wears all the time knitted in royal blue wool which is a bit fluffy, think its called brushed. Was thinking it was a bit small but now its sewn up it looks ok. Thats another present out the way. Going into town later to get some wool to start Dad's cardigan. want to make him a zip up one. I have a pattern already and its plain at the bottom with a ribbed effect at the top so thinking I might do it in two colours. If I buy enough to make two cardigans then I can swap the colours round and it should be just the right amount.0 -
rufusdog! What can I say?! A credit to her mum I think.:T
A suggestion for the older girls bags, are they pink and girly or a bit edgier? What about making the bags in darker more gothic emo colours and adding in some retro print fabrics like the alexander henry tattoo range?? Not to everyones taste but definitly (SP??) different. Personally I love it!
Have a look here to see what I mean........
