Received my letter today stating I have been rejected on credit scoring grounds. Seem all too easy an excuse as I have never been turned down for a current account yet, and with the overdraft I currently have at another institution generating them profits!

Well, must confess Barclays are a pile of S###E anyways!

Well so far it looks as though quite a few people got the same reply, which seems like one of the ways Barclays is getting out of it.

I really liked the hoover analogy, i kept looking to see if the story made the national press or whether they shut it down quick enough. I remember other stories like Argos selling TVs for low prices by mistake too!

When did i stop being able to fit Hoola-Hoops over my fingers?:think:
  • I received a letter from Barclays today saying my request to open an account with them had been refused. Apparently it was to do with "my credit rating".

What credit rating??? The only thing I owe is my mortgage! I do have to live somewhere.

I don't have a credit card, only debit and I have money in my account and earn a fairly good wage.

So I don't understand why. I personally reckon that Barclays got wise to the loop-hole they made and are going to refuse a lot of people so they don't lose out so much. Oh Barclays did offer me the opportunity to apply for their current account. No thanks........

  • Got my accepted. Have to go my local Barclays to have my ID check out. Got my cheque etc. and have £1000 paid in end of Jan 06.
Wait and see if I get my £100 later on.
  • Well i have quite a lot of credit cards and current accounts and knock me down i was accepted, without even needing ID, sounds like an easy £100, i can't believe so many people have been so unfortunate with it!
  • Well surprise surprise, the only 2 that got accepted (so far ) are newby posters.....mmm .

Or am i just cynical ? lol

    trevor_john.....hmmm interesting!

  • Got my rejection this morning. Have a fraction of the credit cards I did have (have cut back seeing as the returns are not so good these days) and have never been refused anything before - looks like they are beating a hasty retreat on this one...they can stick their "cashcard account" where the sun don't shine.
Perhaps a MSE rebellion? Can we apply for everything Barclays do online and clog up their system completely???? How many of us are there?
  • .......Then anything we do get accepted for, we can send THEM a rejection letter, preferably without a stamp - this will cost Barclays a £1 handling fee plus postage for every "rejection" they get - one way of costing the B******S some of that money!
