I have these calls regularly. For brochures and leaflets for elderly retirement homes, police support magazines, youth activity brochures, firefighter support calendars, education support pamphlets. And funnily enough they all cost exactly the same amount per year. Yeah okay. How is advertising a cleaning company in a brochure telling teenagers of the local youth activity centres going to benefit me? I mean the last time I checked, my clients were not an abundance of 14 year olds that own their own home and have too busy of a worklife to cope with the domestic chores also.

wb, i think you are missing the point....the adverts things are not real...they are a complete scam from start to finish - so your analysis of the marketing mix and profile are somewhat wasted.

It's a total scam. I'm waiting of some "paperwork" back from these people which I assume to be a totally fabricated attempt to get me to pay.
They have already had their tame debt collector on to me even though the bill wasn't due.

What I have done, apart from taking some of the advice here, is to contact some of the other local businesses who have been scammed and ask them for their support. So far 2 have agreed to stand firm and not pay so if they do go to court (unlikely) they can try and explain away at least 3 of us being told the same pack of lies.

I am in the process of dealing with this company’s to. I received a call from a man who clamed to be from my local police and he said the previous owner of my company had advertised with them last year. (He named him by name) He said I could advertise in an emergency services magazine and the cost would be £85. And asked if I would be interested. I said that I would be interested so they were going to send me a proof of the add and we would take it from there. They told me the already had the company logo and would pass me on to the company who print the mag for them. Enter BCS MULTIMEDIA. I was sent the ADD and a Bill for £102 it said on the letter that if I never liked the add I could change or cancel the add. I sent them 2 letters saying that I did not like the add and that after looking the company up on the internet I want nothing to do with them and wanted to cancel the add that I had not agreed to in the first place. I only agreed to have a look at the proof. Over the next few weeks I got several letters asking for payment of the £102. Also I received around 10 phoncalls a week asking me to pay and I told them the would nor get a penny from my company as I never agreed to any thing. They said they had a recording of me agreeing to take the add out I have asked them to send me a copy of the recording. (Still waiting on this) I got another letter a few weeks ago from a company CF&L with a bill for over £400 and the same day a very aggressive phone call from said company. Well I was A Doorman for over 6 years and despise bully’s and I was having none of it and told said company in no uncertain term where to go and what to do with there bill. After this phone call I was utterly livid. I contacted trading standards, my MP, my MSP, the police, several newspapers, my Franchise Company, TAPA, and watchdog. The police came around to talk to ame and were disinterested, my msp the same no reply from and newspaper or watchdog. I am still dealing with trading standards. The best information I got was from TAPA. They have had several issues with bcs and beat them in court. Apparently bcs will doctor the recording to make it sound like you agree to the add. They will then ramp up the costs to around £2000 before taking you to court. TAPA have offered to defend me but I must pay there joining fee and a monthly subscription fee. I am loathed to pay anyone anything to fight this company as I NEVER AGREED to anything. But I can’t afford to pay legal fees. Today I received another letter from CF&L asking for £562 (no phone call yet) so im just wating now to see how far they want to go. If push comes to shove I will have to join TAPA who says they have a 100% record against BCS in court. (And I would quite like to meet these idiots in court). I shall continue to explore every avenue to beat these people and I shall post any further developments.

They will take you to court and they have taken other people to court. see the TAPA website and type in BCS

i have been approached with this scam - yesterday. agreed to nothing, but the caller kept wanting to confirm that she would send a proof of the ad to me. the company was vision group (formally vardis) and the charity was foresters fund for children. i called back after reading about them all over the net and said i ordered nothing and didn't want to hear from them again.

today i get a call from "yorkshire police initiative" and would i like to place an ad. etc. i said no thanks and the caller said f..k off wa....r.

i think they get our info from free listings on thomson local, yell etc. they target small start up business. keep this thread alive as a warning to others

I have had dealings with this company and they originally told me it would be about £200.00 to advertise in the Police magazine throughout the year. I have seen a basic proof which I did not agree to and never seen a magazine or heard of anyone in Oxfordshire who has received it!!! I now have had a letter from a debt collection agency for £782.00!!! What do I do?
