Problem with viewing MSE website

I have a minor - yet annoying - problem with the MSE website.

Basically none of the logo images at the top of the page display - I get text only. Same with the forums - I get a slightly strange-looking text-based version (which takes ages to load but that could just be my laptop/connection). The column on the right of the page (the 2for1 Extravaganza) seems to be loading OK.

I'm sure that this is simply a manifestation of something amiss with this laptop I'm using and would welcome any pointers for things that I could check out.

Norton and Spybot aren't showing up any problems. I am using Firefox 3.0.5 and Windows XP.

All suggestions gratefully received!

Do you have any plugins in firefox like NOSCRIPT?
Goto any thread and click 'display modes' (Top right of thread)
Make sure its on 'linear'

Thanks for that.

I've checked the display mode and it is set to linear.

There doesn't seem to be any script-blocking plugins - all looks standard adobe, itunes etc. I've also tried Internet Explorer and it has the same problem.

I'm a bit stumped by this, however I'm now thinking that I MAY have an infection by the Bla Trojan and that may be the root of the problem. I'm pursuing that angle over at the Spybot forum. That may be a red herring though.

Is norton upto date? (As in still auto updating)

Log looks clean to me, I assume the problem is still there?

Did the HijackThis fix thanks. This may have solved one problem (see below) but not the problem re images - I still see an odd-looking website shorn of the usual formatting.

Norton is up-to-date (last update 21/1/09).

What may have changed is that when I rebooted after the HJT fix, I didn't get the following alert:

Rule "Default Block Bla Trojan horse" blocked (FAMILYLAPTOP(192.168.1.5),1042).
Inbound UDP packet.
Local address,service is (localhost,1042).
Remote address,service is (FAMILYLAPTOP(192.168.1.5),1042).
Process name is "N/A".

This had been popping up after every start-up/re-boot for some time and seemed to suggest that this laptop had the bla trojan. I had wondered if that was at the root of the browser problem but it looks like not!

All rather puzzling...

Its quite possible that norton is the problem. When its working fully, it blocks all sorts of things (1 of the reasons I hate it)

Not sure it's norton because disabling it doesn't help - though there maqy be some residual activity, I guess...

Upto you. Id try completely uninstalling it personally (Sometimes, just 'disabling' wont cure the problem, but a complete uninstall will)
