"Different" Centerpiece Ideas??

Hi everyone, hope your wedding plans are going well!!

After about 6 weeks of doing NOTHING wedding related (working horrible hours), I've been going into overdrive for the last couple of weeks. I'm back to not being able to sleep for all the different wedding things flying around my brain when I'm desperate for a decent nights kip!

Everything seems to be coming together nicely, except for being absolutely stuck on ideas for centerpieces! Obviously I need MSE ideas, and I don't REALLY want to go with the flowers option. I want something a little unusual, without going OTT. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Also....what are people doing about tablecloths? Are you using real ones/papery ones? Hiring/buying? I just don't really know what to do here as I cannot spend a fortune on these, I can't justify it. But I do want the tables to look nice! Any help here would be greatly appreciated too :)

Thanks in advance for your help! :D

I'm having ivory linen table cloths and napkins and some plain glass vases with roses in. I am also scattering little tiny silver hearts around.

Will your venue allow candles? Maybe have hurricane lamps.
  • Thanks for replying. did you buy the tablecloths or are you hiring? what sort of cost would I be looking at for 10 tables? Just an average obviously as I don't know the dimensions! Need to ring them to find out if we can have candles, as that is a possibility (bought a pack of floating ones the other day)

    Hi there,

My venue provide the table cloths in either white or ivory. Have you contacted your venue to see if they provide this?

As far as centrepiece ideas go, it depends how big or small you want but for ideas you could have a look at things such as homeware sections of catalogues - such as Next which have things such as candle gardens. Once you've got the ideas then go to Ikea, Au Natural, Asda, Tesco etc and buy the items cheaply and recreate giving your own personal touch.

Another idea that I saw was at my friends wedding. She bought vintage teapots, cups and saucers etc (all different) from flea markets, car boot sales - filled them with a few flowers and they provided lovely centrepieces.

    Hope this helps slightly!
:D Finally decided to start growing up when it comes to money!:j
  • p.s. what you're doing sounds lovely!

Thanks for the ideas :) Nope, we're having the reception at a village hall so no provisions made :o small budget!
  • The hotel we have booked is putting white linen tablecloths on with white napkins tied with our choice of colour ribbon (lilac),
my idea for the centre piece is going to be 4 balloons (in lilac & silver) coming down in a row, in each of the wine glasses i am going to put a silver party popper and some bubbles and like aimee21j the tables are going to have silver hearts scattered around.
I dont want the tables to be over the top and want the guests to beable to see each other around the table so thats why no big fancy centre piece.

I am hiring all the linen- I think it is about £10 for each large round table cloth and about 40p a napkin. We are having ivory and silver too- our invites also have a little lilac in them.

I have also bought some table number holders - silver ones shaped like hearts and have had some table numbers made. They are postcard sized ivory hammered card with each number in diamante. They are gorge!
  • We're getting married at the beginning of June and for centre pieces we're thinking of storm lanterns with chunky candles which can be used on the steps of the venue at night time for the guests arriving or glass dishes containing jelly babies/dolly mixtures etc from the cash n' carry (the evening guests can gobble any left overs up!)
