    Quincunx is a good word.

That sounds like three really offensive swear words rolled in to one. I'm going to use it at work tomorrow in a meeting.

Having looked it up, damn you Generali, I don't think it will become one of my favourites. Now titivate and hornswoggled...

I like the word haptodysphoria and its meaning. I get it sometimes, especially with cotton wool.

I like that it sounds rude. I also like that the English language feels the need to have the word.

Hornswoggle is good. The Americans invent some great words.

    Hubris is good too.

However, none of this word smithery is going to get British jobs for British workers.

I have read up on the union and government position(s) on this and cannot see how it can possibly be resolved. If this is an early indicator (because things haven't got as bad as they're going to), then we are in for a Spring, Summer and Autumn of discontent. I'll leave out Winter because surely Brown will be forced out of office by then.

It still won't help British workers though.
  • wow, they're all in my "collins gem dictionary" what a little gem it is too...

must admit I do like the look of hornswoggle..............deceive,swindle or hoodwink......

Made up my mind that has.............. Gordon Brown = hornswoggle

We go to the CEO's house. We can get in through the underground heating system... up through to the main audience chamber... and into his [strike]Pilate's[/strike] wife's bedroom. Having grabbed his wife, we inform [strike]Pilate's[/strike] him that she is in our custody and forthwith issue our demands.

I have now reflected. I won't delete or edit my posts because the first one was made in innocence of the reality of Crimewatch or whatever the program was, therefore I did not know what had happened to an old lady. Of course this is terrible. Would it be more terrible if it were British perpetrators? Or less terrible? Therefore the nationality of the criminals has nothing to do with the story.

And the story itself has nothing to do with this thread.

So my cheap remark was in connection with the endless arguably racist crap that is being spouted on this thread. And my 'innocent' attempt to deflect it, or undermine it.

So to sum up. I am sorry about the old lady. But this is a thread about foreign or striking workers, or unions, or Goverment legislation - I think.
