IF (big if) there is ANY money in the pot after charges (mortgages) are paid, then unpaid wages are the next payout, before customers.
I know it's still unlikely as they would need assets to realise and they may come to the opinion that orders where a matching stock item exists, should be honoured - (I'm not sure on this legally - KPMG might just say that a creditor is a general creditor and the stock is the stock to be sold, and never the twain shall meet)I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!

The Empire Direct website has just been updated with further information from the administrators. It includes a FAQ section and a downloadable letter that can be used as proof that your goods are not going to be delivered (Credit card/ Visa chargeback people will need this).

Tis better than nothing.... but its not a fridge freezer.
PS. Thanks all ex ED employees, I think your advice has been well received by many.0 -

At least 3 weeks is hopeful that we will get them back (although I don't relish having to troll off to Bradford to get it - why should I pay petrol).
How did you come by this nugget, you weren't just fobbed off by the helpline were you?
Mine was a relatively minor fault and could be worked around for £10 and a Freeview decoder, others will be getting back a duff item and having to chase the manufacturer for a repair (good luck)I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!

I called ED this morning and got fobbed off with the 'we'll be in touch in a couple of weeks'. I was told they cannot process, deliver or cancel orders at the minute. I then called Barclays Partner Finance who I had taken finance out with and they were alot more helpful.
They told me there was no way I was going to get my TV from them and even though I out of my 'right to cancel' period they would cancel the agreement so I owe nothing. They said they have a team working on it right now, took my number and I was told they would call me within 48 hours to confirm the cancellation as a matter of procedure.
So if anyone is in a similar situation with finance and you haven't recieved any thing get in touch with the finance company.0 -
I bought my TV from ED in May 07 along with the 3 years cover. I used the Barclays Partner finance option to pay. The TV had developed a fault in october last year and went away for repair. It came back with the same fault and is currently away at its 3rd attempt at being repaired at Yorkshire Multimedia (or do I thought). When hearing about ED going into administration I rang the number on the website and told them my situation, they said they whould pass my info onto the administrators and whould hear something in the future. I then called Yorkshire multimedia to ask the status of the repair and they said they didnt have my TV, they sent it back at the end of Dec (its 2nd repair) and have not seen it since. So I have no idea where my TV is. Also on the Saturday before going into administration I called into my local ED branch and spoke the Manager who had been dealing with my TV (very helpful guy) he looked on the system and said there were no updates at that point and to give them a week or so.
Now I am just waiting on an answer from the finance company as to what they can do.
Shame about the staff loosing their jobs, always seemed helpful.0 -

My husband was actually speaking to one of the members of staff kept on after the close down. However, we do suspect that in the last 48 hours they have been told what to tell callers as he went from offering to locate our TV personally to telling us that the administrators would contact us directly. The guy at ED was in fact really helpful, very friendly and open given his circumstances. He told us that we could expect to wait 3 weeks at a minimum. At least he's honest. Consumer Direct have also confirmed that the only way to maximise our chances of getting our TV back is to log a formal claim with the administrators. We're only a few miles from Bradford - so wish we could just drive round and pick the TV up ourselves! Thinking of arranging a formal 'welcome home TV' party when we eventually get it back!"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something"0

I ordered a Toshiba TV from Empire Direct 2 weeks a go and I havent received it. I spoke to my credit card company on Tuesday and they told me that I will get my money back. I have since reorderd the TV from https://www.digitaldirect.co.uk and they delivered the same TV to me on Friday. Despite being annoyed about the hastle of having to go and order elsewhere I am disappointed that Empire Direct have gone bust because I have been buying from them for about 5 years.0
