yes 02 transfer my contract number when i renew it to a new contract.
like dalesrider i have a contract in my name that my son uses, he wanted a contract in his own name but wanted to keep the existing number(which is the contract registered to me) he uses, 02 told me the only way to do this would be for me to transfer the number to a payg sim, then my son take out his own contract then transfer the payg (his existing number) to his new contract.
this was last year so maybe 02 have changed their policy on this now if they have told you different

    Sorry. I misunderstood.
I was saying about just keeping the number, in my own name.
I didn't know they allow transfer to another person:o

    So I'm I correct...??..
You cannot transfer the CONTRACT number from Mr.X to a CONTRACT for Mr.Y...
Mr.X changes his CONTRACT number to PAYG number. Then Mr.Y takes this PAYG number to his new CONTRACT?
Wouldn't that PAYG in your(Mr.X) name??

ejv, you are best checking with 02,
maybe i i am also misunderstanding
post 21 i thought you meant transferring your number in your name to a new contract in your name.
post 25- if i understand you correct yes i was told by 02 the only way to transfer my existing number to my son is to first cancel my contract and ask for the number to be payg. then advised my son to take out his own contract and transfer the payg number to his new contract.
as i did not get round to doing the above i cannot answer about the payg name registered.
02 stressed to me this was the only way my son could get to keep the number he is using now
