Same as Spendless, I was a bridesmaid at about 3 and we had flowers in a basket too, a bit like a little easter basket with a tiny child sized handle, wicker basket, and inside we had flowers, ribbons and little miniture kumquts (sorry cant spell the things!). They were very pretty and childlike.

The wand idea sounds lovely, I was matron of honour at my sister's wedding my DD and my niece were bridesmaids (they were both 5) they had little posy versions of my flowers and they were fine but there is a big difference in concentration levels in a 3 year old to a 5 year old.

  • My two flowergirls carried a silk flower (with the stem cut very short) and some chiffon ribbon tied round it. The reason the stem was so short was to prevent them hitting each other with the flowers! (I know my nieces well...lol )

i only had little ones at my wedding (nieces and nephews) 2 little bridesmaids and two little pageboys!my little bridesmaid aged 3 carried a little hand tied bunch of flowers just like a smaller version of mine!! they looked lovely her twin brother was a pageboy (didnt carry anything, wore little waistcoats and cravats)and their sister aged 1 didnt carry anything she just learnt to walk in time so that was enough to turn heads! and my other page boy aged 5 didnt carry anything either! they all looked brilliant and my mum walked the one year old up the aisle with them to keep a bit of order! it was great! good luck and have fun! (we did the bubble photos and they were cute but try keeping them in order with a load of bubbles for a photo very difficult it's best to just not take things to serious with little ones cos they dont always do what you want on the day theyd rather be off playing!!!)
  • Hi

As a mother of 2 I know that whatever you give them you will end up holding within 20 minutes so make sure you can carry two of them.

Another good thing to think of is a small activity pack ready for them in their things like bubbles (although mixture can spill down their dresses) a small doll, sticker book, pencil crayons, (not feltpens) etc, you can easily make something for a few quid if you check out the poundstores etc. Children are lovely at weddings but they do get over excited.
  • A 3 year old may decide (on the last minute) to carry nothing, so don't get too hung up on the details :-)

Choose something simple & girly to hold in one little hand.
    :-)

My 4 year old bridesmaid carried a basket of flowers.

I have seen kids carry teddies down the aisle, so more common than you realise!

My (ex) SIL had her two bridesmaids carry rag dolls, in dresses made with similar material to theirs - this is obviously only really possible if you know someone very clever, who can make dresses etc.. It was a nice touch though, and they kept the ragdolls as a keepsake!!
