THIS IS ONLY A GRABIT IF YOU ARE EXPECTING A CHILD AFTER APRIL 6TH 2009
From April 2009, you can claim a one-off, tax-free payment from H M Revenue & Customs (HMRC) if you're a mum-to-be who's at least 25 weeks pregnant. The payment is called 'Health in Pregnancy Grant' and is to help you prepare for the birth of your baby.
Your due date needs to be on or after 6 April 2009 for you to make a claim.
Who can get Health in Pregnancy Grant?
You can get the grant if all of the following apply:
The grant will be a one-off payment of £190 for each pregnancy. It will not affect your tax credits or any other benefits. Everyone will get the same amount – you will not be asked about your income.

nice little lump for some i will tell my friend, is this instead of the 300 or500 they used to give you? i remember with 1 of my boys i got 500 grant.

No, this grant is in additon to the £500 surestart grant. Unlike the surestart grant this is not means tested so pretty much every expectant mum should get it. You get the form from your midwife. You can apply immediately for the grant but it will not be paid until april.0

Thanks will pass this over to two friends who are due after that date - no good for me - my little one arrived on Christmas Eve just gone!3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!
