Tesco misprice policy discussion area part III

lol, I'll keep an eye out for the Dyson.
I got 40 yr old Virgin, Keane CD and a new one:
A-Ha Singles Collection 1984-1994 or something very similar. Stickered 8.97, SEL and scans 9.77
Eminem - Encore scanned correctly at £8.97.
Xbox (big cardboard shelf pack) scans correctly at £97.93 again
There's another one, I'll post it later on if it works out, I only noticed it when I was showing CS the SEL for the DVD. CS extremely nice this time, friendly and polite, R+R offered straight away.
The 20% off thing means you pay a bit less, so they will (or should) refund you the price minus the 20% reduction, as that's what you have paid.0 -

However an example i can think of is the KEANE hopes and fears album, which was labelled at £6.98 and scanning at £8.98. ( not sure if thats the right price but there was deffinatelly £2 difference.
All the cds were labelled £2 cheaper than they were actually scanning for so my theory is, the cds were previouslly available at the lower price then there was a decison to offer 20% discount. The cd is then £2 more expensive making up for any future reductions.
A bit confusing maybe but i think you will follow me.
Sorry i cant make it less jumbled. My brain isnt in the right gear today
The fact that it had a sticky label confuses things alittle bit (ohhh you mean the shelf edge label was lower than scanning price?). Okies I think I have it now. As I'm sure you can imagine without the CD's barcode this is tricky but I'll see if I can find it and check the pricing history. Also if you could tell me which store that might make things more accurate

The Keane Hopes and fears cd barcode is as follows 0249866573. I belive it was picked up at the majority of tesco stores mentioned on this site. I got mine from Pontypool in S.Wales. The store where the manager type guy said "we will be watching you in future." Hope this helps.
P.s Many thanks for your exploration into the pricing manerisms of tesco, before and during promotions.Watch out, you never know who is about.0 -

Okies just had a rummage. The price had changed quite varied quite abit since October. Basically before Christmas it varied between £8 - £10. After Christmas its generally been around £7 (occasionally lower and higher) until the end of Jan when its back to £9. Please bear in mind that doesn't include any multisaver offers and probably doesnt include the 20% off offer (depends how they trigger it at the till). I suspect the change to £9 was at the same time as the 20% offer started pushing it back down to about £7.20 when you actually go through the till.
Do you know if there was any posters/point of sale indicating its been on any kind of offer through january? Its tough to tell but it looks like its been on a price reduction offer all January and coming into February the offers just been altered so you pay the same reduced price but they can display it as a different type of offer (the 20% off).
I think it can still be classed as an offer as it was a higher price before christmas. I'll ask around about it.
Sorry thats all abit waffly. I'm pretty sure its all legal but the moral side is harder to call when it comes to DVD's and CD's in my opinion as generally those products drop in price after release anyways.
Hope that helps and hope I don't get in trouble0 -
That album was stickered as £4.97 in my local store yesterday, but scanned at £8.970

EXCHANGING PERSONAL DETAILS
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: For legal reasons I have to discourage swapping, buying and selling on the forum (please see this rule). While it can be a very useful way of saving money it relies on a certain amount of trust between members and as such can cause problems (and has in the past). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
Please note that that requesting or offering items for exchange isn't permitted on the site, see this rule, and some posts have now been removed.0 -
Hi good2talk!
My job takes me all over ("another town, another Tesco") and I've never failed yet to spot a misprice in the fresh meat section.
No point in posting on MSE as it's down to LOCAL mistakes generally, which are usually promptly rectified.
Just compare price per KG on pack with that on SEL.
A top tip is to look for big yellow SEL's boasting a new lower price - and the packs still show the old higher price!!
Hope you get your free lunch soonest!!0
