There are loads of bigger gas guzzling cars out there, for seriously GOOD bargain prices but they are bloody expensive to run. I wonder what is going to happen with the car market cos it isn't looking good at the moment.0

I think that will take some time to be honest...have you seen the docks where they keep new cars!! makes the M25 on a friday look like a village post office car park
I travel fairly regularly on the ferry out of North Shields and it looks pretty much like it always looks. In fact, two weeks ago it actually looked a bit quieter and I'm pretty sure there were more spaces.
Given that the likes of Honda are having four month shutdowns, and there are some stunning new car deals, I don't see it taking that long to reduce the glut.
Unless, of course, no-one can get credit to buy. What goes around - comes around0 -

I guess they are still moving, manufacturers still forecasting 10000+ for production runs each month. Fleets still need to buy contract hire vehicles I guess (despite it now being a bit more expensive than mid-08 - I have some comparable quotes increase by £100ish a month!)matched betting: £879.63

Asking is not the same as getting, of course. A brass neck can reap great rewards

just spoken to my friend about this and he has just picked up a 53 reg silver, 3 door Astra Sxi (alloys etc) with 31,000 miles on clock, immaculate in and out, full service history, 12 months mot and 6 months , 6 months tax, 6 months dealer warranty, 2 prev owners for £2995!
i thought that was pretty good actually:eek:0 -

I suspect we are still at the stagnation phase of car prices.
Most cars tick along pretty well so there isnt usually a need to upgrade every few years like 15 years ago when the car would rust through.
My car died recently and i was pretty disappointed with the prices people wanted for cheap hacks, we are talking a grand minimum for something not totally wrecked and even then it will be a decade old.
Dont get me wrong, there are some bargains out there (1) but nothing jumped out and i was looking for a big engined daft car. In the end i decided for a cheap lease 2yr with all maintenance thrown in on a volvo s80 to control my expenses and give me time to save up for a low mileage jag/merc coupe though it might end up as a house deposit if i spot a bargin next year.
(1) just look how little you would pay for a jag xk80 -
