No, but you do haggle 1st. Many shops advertise price matching, "if you find a similar item cheaper elsewhere we'll fefund twice the difference etc".
I always do it, even if the cheaper option is on the net:money: :money: :money:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
There are some very nice Audi TT roadsters on Piston heads, you can spot those desperate to sell a mile off.
There are bargains to be had out there.
Do be put off by dealer comments, there is no shortage of Audi TTs out there so you can afford to be picky and haggle like mad, I recently looked at a Merc CLS that had lost 60K in just over 2 years .0 -
Wow! Just logged back in - thanks for all the tips, etc and some of the discussions have made me LOL
hehe
Just to clarify - I'm not a p*sstaker who constantly expects a discount or 'something for nothing'. But as cyclonebri1 and DKLS have said, the market is declining so prices should reflect this. For eg, Quentin Willson advised in Nov 2008 that a 2001 TT with 44k miles on the clock is worth no more than 7.5K, but why's it priced at several grand above?? But then there are those that appear at 6.5K and private equivalents on ebay are shifting for a LOT less. I just don't want to pay more for a car that isn't worth the dollar. Point taken about dealers needing to make money back on cars with finance still outstanding, obviously need to steer clear of these!
If your car is reasonably priced then there's nowt to moan about. Innit0 -
That's really nice and v well priced, but *green* is so not me!
Ill have a damn good search on pistonheads though and probably will start looking at private as well as trade - my mate's OH is clued-up on cars and says he'll help - yay! Thanks for the tip!
Ooh and porsche boxster would be cool but i'd rather wait til i can afford a carerra 911! that's my dream car...0 -

Look, even the main stealers now realise that the market is in freefall. A realistic offer, and I mean a realistic offer, is very likely to be accepted.
If the vehicle is priced realistically to start with, there's should be very little room for manoeuvre by the dealer. If you get a discount, you know the dealer had overpriced it (or is going bust very soon!)
As I said, you don't haggle with Mr T over a tin of beans. Why expect to haggle over a bigger tin can if realistically priced?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

Market forces, more cars than there are buyers, if a dealer doesn't take an offer, simple....move on to the next one, there are plenty not selling many cars.;)
Only the greedy one's will turn down a realistic offer, they are doomed.0 -

Seems like there's more tins of beans than there are buyers too, based on the stacks my local Mr T has, but I didn't see anyone haggling over the price.
Perhaps the buyers simply opted to go to Morrisons where a four pack of Branstons are 25% less
Why wouldn't a car buyer do the same, i.e. move onto the next dealer, if he's spoilt for choice and the first dealer was too expensive? I know I would!"Now to trolling as a concept. .... True, but at 75 pence for 4 tins of Branston Beans, it would be hardly fair to try to barter. ( I got some myself last week ).;)0
