    thanks for that information mwilletts

I had a look on Wickes website and struggled to find what Im looking for but will definately look on homebase. My one problem is that I want my boiler fitting into a cabinet and B&Q said it might just fit in one of theirs otherwise I'm looking at megabucks bespoke!

    What size is your boiler?

The easiest way to box in a boiler is find the nearest size fascia (usually about 900x600, but could be smaller or bigger depending on the boiler) and then get a larder end panel to cut down.

Even though the doors and panels aren't in the price list, they are available seperately and will cost a hell of a lot less than a bespoke unit.
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

not fitted a haus, out of all the sheds the best overall kitchen is wickes. build quality and materials. also there fitting charge is better for you with all services in place, providing you have a rcd consumer unit.
wickes are 18mm but homebase are 15mm both use blum fittings.

Finally got my quote from B&Q. The fitting charge was slightly more than the cost of the units at £2800. I guess this is on the high side, anyone know how much of that I can knock off getting a tradesman locally?

I'd probably halve it, at least. I usually cost an installation between £1000 and £1200, for a basic removal and dry fit. (Obviously, if you have a lot of plumbing/electrics to do, this will go up)

  • Where are you based simpywimpy. ?maybe one of us kitchen fitters on here could give you a quote?
  • I don't recommend Howden's appliances. Fridge freezer broke down over Xmas after 3 weeks use and no helpline number to get it fixed and dishwasher is now playing up. Avoid

Finally decided on a kitchen. It's a cream gloss laquered finish which is apparently better than what B&Q do.

Think the units are coming from a trade only place via my fitter but lovely units and you can go and view.

Fitting price will be £1100 as these units are built up ready (B&Q quote 2800)
Provisional cost of units will be £3400 (B&Q 2700) but these ones are soft close and a better quality door.
  • i went to William Ball...the kitchen i picked was awesome..and the designer came out and re created me a kitchen using a totally different plan..i was soo impressed,,went to the office to see it in 3D on their pc..unfortunatly the quote was for 12K,,i was expecting them to call me back with some sort of a discount,,up until now they havnt ,,and it was December when they came out to me........still waiting as 12k is a no no..i think the kitchen is called Nero....luks amazing
  • I wish I had seen all this before but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Yes get an independent fitter because when it starts to go wrong all you get is excuses and bad service. Fitter has more to lose being a small company than the big companies such as MOBEN:mad:

Project Management and Moben are not on the same planet never mind understanding the concept of planning for tradesmen and time lines !!!

My kitchen is finally finished now and looking good but only down to the fitter !!! Finished 6 days after was told it would be finished (Sorry 4 days as weekends don't count in their book !!! - Time must have stood still for us with no cooking facilities to miss these 2 days !!) with the Gas man finally turning up on 3rd attempt. Mind you we are on a new estate and those toms toms are so confusing !!

Anyhow bottom line avoid them like the Plague as you do not get your money's worth in regard to having the kitchen done in the time they state and the amount of time spent on phones repeating yourself and dealing with people who can only blame others for their shortcomings !!!!!!

Moben = NO THANKS:mad:
Saving the planet whilst saving pennies !!!!!!!
