  • Difficult to beat £94 for a dishwasher but you would need to be quick as this deal has been up on MSE since yesterday and I believe on HDUK.

I had a quote this week from Mobens kitchens which I believe he told me were mid-priced.

My quote came to £11,000 incl a free dishwasher, a double over and 5 burner hob, extrator and a small wine cooler.

I particularly like the new high gloss colours they are offering. Any ideas of a better place to look for something similar? I ideally want to be spending about 6k or 4k without appliances.

Anyone had a quote from Kutchenhaus?

Kev-which Brand are not "over Priced"?
  • We had B&Q kitchen fitted last year, found them to be really good, fitters were excellent. We had a small problem with the tap but they collected a new one and fitted it the same day. Paid £3000 in total and this included some new sockets and some water pipes replaced. Really pleased with them.

I ordered a dishwasher. At that price it's worth a go!

i have fitted for all the above, had a couple of savy customers who had agreed to have it fitted then cancled within the time. moben rang them a few days later giving them 20% off. they said they would think about it. then moben offered another 5%. so they had it fitted, with 25% off the price they were going ahead with.

taking into account moben are overpriced for the quality you actually get.

The price they started at was about 30% higher - then they just add discounts to make it look like you're getting a good deal but that sort of thing just puts me off to be honest. I'd rather have a good upfront price and that's an end to it. Anything else just makes me feel like I'm being ripped off.

Considering the moben price, I was also disappointed that all I had to look at on the night was a hand drawn image (and roughly drawn at that) when what I wanted was to see what the kitchen would look like for me.

Still I have an appointment with kutchenhaus tomorrow at 12 so I'm hopeful for a better idea from them

premkit, have you fitted a kutchenhaus kitchen? They quoted me 1800 for fitting including the gas hob (fittings already in place) and the sink (again plumbing all ok). They also take the old one out in this price. Is this fair?

The total cost for my kitchen with them is £8700

Now waiting for B&Q at the opposite end of the scale.
    Anyone had a wickes kitchen?

Personally, I would avoid both B&Q and Howdens. They are both selling a cheap product, which they dress up as something better.
Likewise, don't go to Moben or Magnet, they are selling a decent product at bespoke prices.
I would recommend Homebase or Wickes, both use industry standard fitting (18mm carcase, Blum soft close etc.) at a decent price.
The other option would be going to a local independant kitchen studio, where you will get much more choice and a better product.

If you want any more information, gimme a shout. I'm currently lead designer for a kitchen showroom up in Perth and I'm an ex-Wickes Retail Manager and Design Consultant, who did a lot of research into the different products being offered by all the sheds.
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
