Financial faux pas and other disasterous decisions

I wish we had thought of this challenge on Saturday then we could have had a spendathon over the weekend :rotfl:
I'm making a (basic) spreadsheet today, ping me your email if you want and I will mail you a copy. It will be in OpenOffice though not Excel as I don't pay for software0 -
Thanks FF but I don't have the option to open "openoffice" files. I'm running an archaic (but free) version of Excel thats part of the MS office 2003 package which came with the operating system. I'm up and running with a school exercise book, a ruler and a variety of coloured pens.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Poddled about at school for the better part of 5 hours doing all sorts of bits and pieces that I couldn't be arsed to do over the hols. Need to go back in later to lock up after the furniture fitters and to clear up whatever debris the teachers have left behind ready for tomorrows chaos.
Arrived home and started to hang the washing out then began taking it in again as I was pelted with raindrops the size of ping pong balls. DDs helped but got sidetracked by a wild rabbit which was cowering under the gas tank. Its clearly unwell. DD1 wants to shoot it. She has more faith in her ability than I do. If she misses the tank will blow up. Shes confident she won't miss. Fortunately I have the keys to the gun cabinet.
Spends so far today are all of the mundane direct debit variety although OH is due at the dentist for a check up tonight.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Cash is flying out far faster than anticipated. £5 to school for snack money and a £7 splurge on kebabs for me and OH which hes picking up on his way back from the dentist. DD2 has toothache thanks to a worn out wobbly baby tooth and is only eating slurpable foods tonights culinary delights involved value tinned sphagetti and toast.
Had a bit of a mare of an afternoon. Locked up school as per normal. Checked all the doors, turned all the lights off, set the alarm, exited the building, locked the external gates and made it as far as the car park. Saw one of the teachers cars. Deduced from the sudden wailing of sirens that the owner of the car was still wandering around school. Made it back into the building in time to cancel the alarm before it started its automatic and unstoppable dial out sequence. Oops.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Whooooooo. If it wasn't silly o'clock I'd be cartwheeling around the room. School starts today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its not that I don't like having the demonic daughters around but I can only put up with muuuuum so many times a day before I lose the plot.
Rather bizarely everything that needs tracking down is tracked down. both children were hosed down and de-tangled before bed. Piles of folded uniform were plonked in sensible places ready for them to fall into and I even managed to find ties. Of course theres the small matter of DD2 having outgrown her school coat over the hols but I'm sure theres an old one of DD1s which will do. Need to bung it in the machine to eradicate all traces of horse manure first though. Not entirely sure how but I appear to have escaped without being conned into a new bag / pencil case / pen / pencils etc. etc. making this the cheapest back to school ever.
Had other eek moments about the live on 4K for 3 months challenge - the one ending New Years Day - how comes no one pointed out that there are actually 4 months between now and then huh????????? Classic faux pas if ever there was one.
Didn't get round to baking anything for the DDs lunches today so there will be lots of complaints tonight regarding the lack of anything exciting. I did don my martyr hat and do all the ironing though.
Todays excitement involves lots of finger crossing in the hopes that the two new Henrys I ordered yesterday arrive today otherwise the cleaners ain't gonna be happy as I've spectacularly blown up all the old ones leaving us down to one functioning and horrificaly overworked Henry. Also need to remember to place an order for loo roll as we're down to 8 spare rolls which is never good in a place with 33 toilets. Kitchen fitters finished yeaterday meaning the new store room is ready for occupation. Unfortunately this means that the contents of two or possibly three other store rooms need transferring into it before the builders start. Should have a vague idea when this will be by the end of next week. In theory they'll be under foot for 10 weeks but what with the weather and the Christmas holidays and what not I'm guessing it'll be a fair bit longer than that. Something fun to look forward to.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Maybe because the other challenger didn't realise   :eek:0 -
Hello,
I think you're both completely mad to even attempt that challenge. I tried to work out if I could live on the £4,000 challenge & even including Child Benefit payments I still couldnt. Have no idea how they manage it but will be watching you with much awe & admiration.
