Yesterday ended up being a super duper productive day. Took the DDs to their riding lesson then painted the border round the front door and the step (been meaning to get round to that since we had the door replaced 8 years ago) continued by painting the front gate and then dredged out the masonry paint and gave the outdoor privie !!! piggery !!! storeroom a coat too. DDs both helped briefly which resulted in rather a lot of splatter and some strangely coloured chickens. Perhaps they won't be quite so nosy next time. Popped into school for an hour in the evening just to clear up after holiday club, happily thats cash in hand overtime.

Todays loking like being another fabulously sunny day. Washings in the machine. My in-box is empty and I've done enough surveys for a £5 shopping voucher. I've promised the DDs we'll go for a bike ride after breakfast then we'll fire up the air compressor and fill the paddling pool. That should keep them amused for the remainder of the day. I'm going to do some serious weeding and then sit in the shade with a cold beer or two and a book.

Hope y'all enjoy the last day of the school hols!

Following in the footsteps of the single and in debtors I have painted my toenails "turkish delight" although tangerine would have been a more apt name. Decided it was time I did a litle something just for me once in a while. I don't think I'm quite ready to wear perfume to bed - I don't own any for a start - and the OH might would think I was up to something.

Have also applied on line for passport application forms for myself and the DDs to keep the OH quiet. That'll be £200 after photos then. Easy come and far far far too easy go. Incidently we're not planning to go anywhere but he feels that the absence of passports is very restrictive. I'm sick to death of arguing about it.

I'm going to attempt to do one thing a day that I've been putting off or just haven't got round to doing in the vague hopes that I feel more positive about things. Unfortunately most of theses things seem to involve money. Lots and lots and lots of money. Aw well. Off to dust off the bread machine before the yeast that I bought to replace the expired yeast expires.

Ooo - I had to get a new passport last year (new name from getting married) and went to the office in Victoria - all done within a day, but they don't treat you like a real person. Will you have to do interviews as they're first passports?

I've taken your lead, moo, and listed 24 items on ebay. It took nearly two hours, when I'd already got the stuff out and photographed it.

Fingers crossed it actually sells. How's yours going?

Hopefully no inteviews as DD1 and I have old expired but uncancelled passports so technically they're a renewal I think although mine is stil in my maiden name, still its only a decade since we got married. Not sure what they'd gain from interviewing DD2....

Boffins from passport place : Hello little girl are you an illegal alien
    DD2 : I'm not green
Passport People: Do you live in the UK
DD2: I live in whales, they're like dolphins but bigger (still can't convince her Wales is a place)

I mean really short of DNA testing her to prove I didn't steal her from a pram and fake her hospital records and her birth certificate what else are they going to do?

E-bay isn't going at all. I didn't list a thing but I did sit on my !!!! in the sun wearing factor 30 and a strappy vest top reading the Diary of A Call Girl cover to cover. Was a rather eye opening read. Factor 30 it seems wasn't enough and despite being in the shade of the tree for the entire day with my chest to the sun I have deep and crispy shoulders. My boobs are still lily white though. Perhaps the lobster effect occured when I was weeding the pond (my thing of the day). I filled a wheelie bin with dead plants, weeds and bloated rotting slugs. Lovely.

Dredged out the bread machine and a packet of bread mix which had celebrated its third birthday post expiry date. Added some almost out of date dried yeast and voila edible bread. Perhaps I am a domestic goddess in disguise after all. OH will roll around laughing at that one.

Have to remember to go to the cash and carry before Wednesday to buy 350 bottles of water and bags of crisps for sports day. If I wake up Wednesday morning and think to myself "Eee crivens" it will be both beccause I have forgotten to do this and because I've read one too many Terry Pratchet novels recently. More housework and less books me thinks. Although if anyone has any recommendations they'd be much appreciated. I've read everything the local library has thats worth reading and now order in on-line from the central library much to the village librarians ammusement. Have wangled it so that I can have 30 books in the system at anyone time. Not quite as greedy as it sounds as it can take upwads of six months for a title to materialise.

Hurrah! Brilliant quote from DD2 I think :D

Also, there is no such thing as too many Pratchetts.

Its still wonderfully fabulously gloriously sunny out and my hormones have morphed overnight from mid winter sludge to full blown bunny boiler status. Poor OH really doesn't stand a chance. Hes had months of me feeling nurgh and not really being interested in anything that didn't involve hot cocoa and a book and now its like the boys birthday and christmas have rolled into one. Hes already hit the point where hes rolling his eyes at me as if to say oh no not again. Men. Theres simply no pleasing them.

    Enough of that.

Yesterday put OHs wierd radar on full alert. Decided we'd go out for lunch at the local garden centre as a bit of a treat. OH came close to a coronary when I appeared in a dress. Fairly sure he'd forgotten I owned it (or any other dresses for that matter). I did buy it for a holiday to Cyprus way way way back in the distant 1990's. Shoes were a bit of a problem. Bright red imitation crocs .... purple shiney DMs.... the black knee high boots with heels that I can't walk in..... or the brown boots I wear for work...... figured I had to have something lurking at the back of the cupboard that I'd forgotten about and voila purple cycling shoes (the type that lock onto the pedals with no grip which invariably end up with me and the bike slowly sliding sidewys before landing in a heap when stopping at traffic lights). Also came across a pair of chunky sandals with bright red, green and blue straps circa 1989 which are about half a size too small obviously my feet hadn't quite finished growing when I bought them. They'll shortly be making an appearance on flea bay either as retro shoes or perhaps more suitably bad taste party footwear.

Other than lunch restrained myself from buying anything at the garden centre as the hens would have eaten whatever it was anyway. Came home via B&Q where we bought a replacement hedge trimmer. We have round about 100m of hedges to prune and with all the new hedge plants I put in recently it will be double that eventually.

Taking OH to the cash and carry this morning as his car is much bigger than mine so hopefully we can get everything school need in in one trip. Fortunately I get to use works time for this little excursion. Its one of the grottier cash and carrys so hopefully he won't be tempted by anything although I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks for the reminder Floozie. 350 500ml bottles of water purchased and 8 boxes of crisps. OHs car was heaving. Especially after I'd added 2 24 packs of beer reduced to £7 each. 10 D cell batteries at 50p each and 10 grab bags of Minstrels for a whopping £2.50 pigged one of them on the way home and very nice it was too.

Have spent the afternon writing a glowing reference for one of my cleaners. Most of mes hoping she gets the job shes applied for but the little devil on my other shoulder is half hoping she won't as she'll be a tough act to follow. Can't think of many people who would clean 36 loos a day without complaint. Worst still though it'll mean losing a friend. I'd be dire at management school - way too much fraternising with the underlings.

Starting late this afternoon as I shopped until I dropped this morning. Need to empty all the playground bins and litter pick all three playgrounds and both fields in anticipation of the invasion of parents for sports day. Such a shame to be paid to pootle round outdoors on a day like this. Aw well needs must. Will slap on some sun tan lotion just to be on the safe side.

Last night was hot hot hot. Too hot to sleep in fact as DD1 kept reminding me as she visited every hour between midnight and 5am. I'm shattered and thats before today even starts. I already know its going to be a manic day today so list of things to achieve before sports day starts at 10:30am:

    • Move 4 benches, 1 table, 300 chairs and 25 gym mats onto school field
    • Erect 18 gazebos and not-so-pop-up pop up shelters
    • Grow several pairs of extra arms in a vague attempt to achieve this.
    • Convince Year 5 and 6 teachers to loan me their 90 children to assist
    • Regret obtaining 90 10 and 11 year olds to hinder progress
    • Try not to get really cheesed off with the parents who'll arrive early to get a good seat and spend an hour watching me and commenting on how hard I'm working then proceed to plonk themselves down on the kids mats under the kids shade and will get really shirty when I direct them to the adult seating which will be in full sun.
    • Locate picnic bearing OH at 13:00 hours to consume picnic in shade - I have my own personal gazebo (first aid tent)
    • Take list of plastered parents to main office so that secretarys can track down their spouses to arrange collection . Spending the afternoon in full sun drinking Pimms leaves several of the mums a bit squiffy.
    • Return all items of furniture from whence they came
Its going to be fun fun fun!
