Smelly wet dog now snoring merrily away on the cream carpet. What was I thinking? DD2 is tired, happy and not quite as muddy as dog despite hurling herself into the ditch on numerous occassions. DD1 is ecstatic having scored two points more than OH whilst at the shooting comp. OH is not a good loser depite claims that he is not at all competative. Fortunately hes soothing his aches in the bathroom whilst the DDs are half way down a packet of cereals despite having eaten very large lunches and in DD1s case having breakfst twice.

Vaguely debating another stint on the WiiFit the exercise seems to be making me feel a little perkier and I'm certainly sleeping better. Not brave enough to go for a run outdoors though as its heaving down again. I'm a fair weather jogger.

Bored, bored, bored. OH has taken paracodol and gone to bed poorly sick with a headache. Lentil based sphag bol is simmering ready for dinner. DD2 is putting pJs on a panda on her DS whilst DD1 is watching reruns of Top Gear. Should really write some DooYoos but am lacking in motivation. Left my book in the bedroom can't risk getting it without disturbing OH. Pants. Pants. Pants. Tempted to snuggle up in front of the fire with the DDs and watch a film assuming theres a film on worth watching. There doesn't seem to have been anything reasonable on poor peoples TV for weeks.

Decided to do some organisational things but this had lead to the realisation that school breaks up for Easter in 3 and a half weeks. Even allowing for the bank holidays this means I have to finance 36 hours of childcare which equates to two pony fun days and a day in schools holiday club totalling £140. Meh. Was hoping to do something fun with them whilst they were off but having overspent massively in Feb and with my car insurance due early April I'll need to come up with some fun yet frugal things to do involving all the free museums in the area. Fortunately there are quite a few of those.

  • Its always hard to balance isn't it during the hols. We were hoping to go away for a few days but thats now been skuppered. I don't think I've got too much childcare to find in the Easter hols but this as you say is balanced against giving them fun and cheap days out.

Agree with you on the TV as well

I had another phenomenally awesome and totally undisturbed nights sleep. So good in fact that when I awoke at 5:30 to a house full of slumbering people my first thoughts were "I could nip out for a moonlit run" by which point I was vertical and a blast of icy cold air rapidly assisted in changing my mind so I'm curled up under a blanket with a mug of coffee instead. It was a nice thought whilst it lasted though.

OH has two more days at home befor his next shift run starts. Hoping he'll do something vaguely productive with them not that I particuarly care what.

Wrote a DooyYoo on the book I finished last night then discovered its not on there so will have to wait for it to be added. The pile of unread books is rapildly shrinking though. Its currently less than a hundred. The shelves are looking much tidier too now that they are no longer two books deep with more books wedged on top. Still at least another six months worth of reading material to go through though about half of which I'm really not too bothered about and will only read in times of total desperation. Would make more sense just to get rid of them really.

    Plans for today:
Yet more washing, ironing and general tidying with a bathroom clean thrown in. Should also be able to work out the end of month finances and see how much of a hole we've made in the debt this month although its next month that will be dire as the car expenses (and quite a few other things) all went on plastic so I'll need to clear them as soon as the statement arrives.

In theory I should be sleeping like a baby, I was beyond exhausted when I finally got home several hours later than planned last night but have woken up hungry and thirsty and ache all over. now too awake to go back to sleep so I'll bore you all with my tales of woe instead.

Yesterday was such an ordinary day on the face of it. Walked the dog at the park in glorious sunshine, draggged OHwith me for some much needed exercise then returned to work slightly earlier than normal having been reminded its parents evening which makes it impossible to do anything after 3:30pm as parents are everywhere. Did as much as we could until there were people everywhere but the loos and so to the obvious delight of the cleaners had them scrubbing loo and cloakroom walls withthe promise of an early departure. Returned to the main building at 6:15pm to retrieve my jumper and was met with the sound of running water in the extension. The one that doesn't have any taps or even any sinks or any toilets. Strange but being a parents evening wondered if some enterprising bored child had gone walk about. Oh how I wish they had. Instead I was greeted by a cloud of steam. Whooshed off in search of a torch only to discover that I still couldn't see a bally thing thanks to steamed up glasses. Took the glasses off rendering me blind as a bat and got closer to the action. Still couldn't see much, not that I really needed to. Jets of water gushing across a ceiling and running down walls in raging torents coupled with a splashing noise from round my ankles told me all I needed to know. Went in search of the buildings water shut off valve wearing a very wet, very white, very see through t-shirt. Dripped my way in search of the boss who was mid conversation with a parent. Managed to insert the phrases major, pipe and burst into an almost coherant sentance whilst dripping at his feet. Minutes later boss is also sporting the same wet look atire. Attempted to temporarily plug the leak (failed miserably) which turned out to be a ruptured joint beyond anything we could do, phoned an emergency plumber and started mopping. Gathered an audience of helpful onlookers and roped in another teacher and a willing parent to mop, build water proof barricades to prevent tthe flood spreading and spent almost an hour and a half getting very very wet and very very cold. One parent even managed to ask the boss if it was a convenient time for a quick chat. Amazed he didn't actually swear. Came home wearing spare PE kit again. Really must remember to bring a change of clothes to school for emergencies in future.

Builders are in for major fireworks when they arrive as their incompetance led to this. What moron removes walls round pipes and then leaves them dangling unsupported in mid air slowly bending under their own weight?

Spent £6.14 in the Co-op on crisps and carp on the way home. Got lots of funny looks but really didn't give a toss, was beyond caring at that point.

Meh. Barely got back to sleep before the alarm went off. Still at least I had a productive couple of hours and have done every survey in my in-box that I was eligble for. Today is going to be a very very very long day. Need to clear up the aftermath of last nights events at school which is likely to take several hours but can't do that until all traces of parents evening have been eradicated. Then have to be back at school by 1pm to start the first of 12 weekly voluntary road safety sessions escorting 45 six year olds on walks around the village. Why oh why do I open my mouth. There just aren't enough hours in the day. hopefully will be able to persuade OH to do helpful things in my absence.
