I have my car back but the delight in only having to fork out £258.50 is minimal as my brake discs are wafer thin and could shatter at any time. How reassuring is that? On top of that my CV joint needs a boot replacing so have sweet talked the other garage into doing that next week.
No point considering a new car now as this ones probably in beter nick than any 3 year old ex-lease put put will be. V. money saving in a way. Just nod. Although it merely delays the purchase of a new car by a maximum of 5 years by which time the chassis on this one will probably be rotten.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Postie has been bringing goodies. I now have 18 stamps, £2 more gift vouchers and a letter which implies the bank account that hasn't been touched since I was two may well have £200 in it. Need to fill in more forms and send off lots of certificates to get my hands on it. Will get that done this evening oonce the DDs are in bed.
Off to lavish tlc on the mobile rust bucket in the hopes that removing some of the lichen and squirting silicone sealent round the ariel solves some of the leaks. Prior to that will attack it with Henry and eradicate all traces of Christmas tree thus making it several kilos lighter and far more fuel efficient. The temptation to light the fire and veg on the sofa with a book is surprisingly tempting though although I'd have to evict the DDs and thier DSs first.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Hi Moo
Aren't cars complete money guzzlers? And they hit you with their little problems at the worst possible times.
I took DD1 back to University in Stirling yesterday, a nice 12 hour return trip that cost me £60 in fuel, £16 in lunch, £12 on magazines (she sneaked in one that we subsequently found cost £7.99) and £32 on "some food to keep me going until Tuesday when my grant comes through". Not the most MSE day. Consolation is that barring a week at Easter she is now safely tucked away in Scotland until the end of May. My cash is much more secure when she is 250 miles away.0 -
£32 of food really isn't bad. My dad used to fork out several hundred on the basis that I was car-less and the supermarket was a long walk from my squat.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Being Valentines Day we went for a romantic walk along Rhyl beach in the pouring rain, battered by gale force winds accompanied by two whingy children on bicycles who kept falling off. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and pigged a giant Kit Kat Chunkie inthe car onthe way home.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Thank !!!! its payday! My acount is once again back in the black albeit not for very long as I have to fork out installment no. 2 of DD1s April school trip swiftly followed by what is likely to be several hundred quid to the garage in return for working brakes, still I'd much prefer to be skint than a human pancake by putting that off.
It might be the school hols but I still need to be at work before 8am to let the builders in. No lie ins for me this week. Have an enormous list of things to do all of which require me to purchase things from plumbing and building type shops which I haven't managed to get around to yet. Suppose I should do that at some point today or perhaps tomorrow. No point doing today what you can successfully avoid doing until tomorrow, especially when you have an assistant for the day who comes armed with a school cheque book saving me paying in cash and being reimbursed eventually.
Need to get back in touch with my inner Flylady. Its gone into hibernation. In theory I'm working less hours at school most days which means I should be able to do more housework. At least thats the theory. Whether or not it works in practise remains to be seen.
Did an emergency clean of the dining room yesterday after throwing a cup of blackcurrant juice across it. Looks muchly better.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Was only planning on being at school for an hour but ended up being their just over two as the DDs were quite happy playing in the indoor sandpit. Cleaned one of the classroom carpets. Now wondering why I manage to cram so much into a few hours at school but if I'm cleaning at home I never manage to do the same amount of work in the same time frame. I distract myself too easily.
Second load of laundry is on, two DooYoos written. Need to start photographing junk as its a free listing weekend on flea-bay (need to work out where I hid it all first). Hopefully I can get everything on this time which will clear out at least two boxes of junk as well as generating a wodge of cash.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Have tracked down all the paperwork and stuck them with a letter to get my hands on the dormant bank account cash. Now need to visit the post office to send them recorded delivery, hopefully I can persuade the DDs to do that this afternoon. Also need to locate their pony club files ready for tomorrow and bake something for their butty boxes.
Still haven't done any housework.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
I've really let the housework slip too, but I've made an effort and cleaned the bathroom today. It's more messy than mucky thanksfully but I started the year like a Lion and have gone out like a Lamb.Start Date: 27/11/2010
