RichyRich - Have you already opened a Cash Isa with someone else this tax year ? and then opened the A+L one with a transfer form so that this years allowance is now with A+L.? Thanks.

I have an Abbey Issue 1 Postal ISA (4.90%) and have applied for an A&L one. I believe they'll send me a transfer form with the rest of the bumph I'll get.

OK, if I can't transfer into the A&L I'm going to go for the Halifax who are paying 5%.

I've just phoned up my local branch to ask about this.
ie: I've already opened an ISA this year and I want to open the A&L one and transfer in.
The woman emphatically told me that this was fine. I explained that I'd already opened another ISA this year and she said that the A&L one would replace it via their transfer procedure.

  • Thanks Tom, i am switching my First Direct ISA to A+L now before it goes to the lower rate.
