If you want to stick to the same flights, the Riviera Maya is now fixed up and back to normal. All the hotels and resorts are fully operational now. I'm going in April for honeymoon, and wouldn't be going if it wasn't perfect ;)

Sticking with First Choice, this one has a kids club for age 3+:
    Akumel Beach club

Most kids clubs seem to be age 4+, however some hotels do offer babysitting. Would you consider leaving son with a babysitter on an evening, so you can have a meal in peace? There will be a small charge for this.

Or Sandos Caracol is brand spanking new! It was closed during the hurricane for renovations, and is due to open today. Ignore the trip advisor revues as they relate to when the old management owned it. I've spoken to locals who say it's much improved now, and comparable to other hotels in the area. This kids club is 4+, but they do have babysitting.

PS - sorry links didn't work, but you can look them up on the First Choice site.
Here I go again on my own....

Well I don't know how you define perfect.

Obviously the tourist board have a vested interest but there was a programme on USA TV recently about Cancun.
What about the beach? or lack of it. The whole place is a building site.

Do some research on the internet.

I am aware Cancun was hit severely due to the hurricane and has ongoing problems. This is why I suggested the Riviera Maya which is south of Cancun, was not as badly affected in the hurricane and is back to normal now. Perhaps you could do some geography research on the internet ;)

I know people who live in the area, and the coast from Playa del Carmen down to Tulum is where US people who were supposed to be staying in Cancun are being relocated as the facilities are all operational there.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply, am going to spend the evening trawling through all your recommendations and will hopefully find something. Will keep you posted and feel free to add any more sites.
    Thank you all
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.
